Initiatives were evaluated to boost productivity, improve financing, and ensure quality standards in national coffee, with the aim of strengthening a more competitive value chain aligned with the international market.

The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) held a second strategic coordination meeting with the leadership team of the National Coffee Board (JNC), during which a joint agenda was presented to promote the comprehensive development of the coffee production chain.

The session was led by the Office of the Deputy Minister for Policies and Supervision of Agrarian Development and included the participation of the General Directorate of Agrarian Policies (DGPA), the General Directorate of Agricultural and Agroecological Development (DGDAA), and the General Directorate of Associativity, Financial Services, and Insurance (DGASFS). Agrobanco, INIA, SENASA, and SERFOR also took part.

Through this approach, MIDAGRI seeks to work in a coordinated manner with sector associations and stakeholders to provide comprehensive solutions in areas such as sanitary standards, innovation, financing, seeds, and formalization.

This joint effort will help strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the country’s coffee value chain. The participation of JNC representatives was essential to identifying priority needs and sharing proposals that contribute to strengthening the coffee sector.

During the meeting, the JNC presented various proposals related to production, the availability of certified seeds, institutional strengthening of producer associations, financing, and strategic services for the sector.

Key issues highlighted included the need to address the commercialization of unauthorized agrochemicals, the urgency of securing high–genetic-quality coffee seeds, and the creation of a dedicated fund for agroforestry systems and regenerative agriculture.

In this context, MIDAGRI is developing actions aimed at addressing these needs through strategic lines that include interinstitutional coordination, strengthening agrarian public services, and promoting financial and innovation mechanisms.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continue working jointly with the National Coffee Board and sector stakeholders to ensure the competitiveness of Peruvian coffee and its sustainability in the international market.
