The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) held a workshop in Cusco aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector’s capacities in relation to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), the circular economy, and the importance of the Crop Planning Framework.
The event took place on November 5 at the Cusco College of Engineers and brought together more than 50 representatives from public institutions, producer organizations, cooperatives, and companies. Participants learned about the progress in implementing the EUDR and its impact on the coffee and cacao value chains, as well as the key role of the Crop Planning Framework in improving planning and reducing production risks.
During the session, projections were highlighted showing a 5.4% increase in planted areas and a 4.2% rise in the Gross Value of Agricultural Production, according to the ENIS 2025. The portfolio of agrarian studies was also emphasized as a valuable tool for evidence-based management.
MIDAGRI also presented the Roadmap toward a Circular Economy for the agricultural sector, focused on efficient resource use, waste reduction, and sustainable business models. SERFOR presented the “Use Concessions for Agroforestry Systems” (CUSAF), and DGAAA explained the environmental guidelines of the Environmental Management Regulation for the Agrarian and Irrigation Sector (RGASAR).
Through these actions, MIDAGRI reaffirms its commitment to a modern, sustainable, and deforestation-free agricultural sector, strengthening regional competitiveness and improving the quality of life of producers across the country.
