In the province of La Convención, Cusco region, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) continues its series of regional workshops aimed at strengthening the capacity of actors in the coffee and cacao value chains, within the framework of the National Strategy for the implementation of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
The event, held in the city of Quillabamba, gathered representatives from public institutions, cooperatives, producers, associations, and businesses linked to the agricultural sector, with the purpose of analyzing the progress, challenges, and opportunities involved in implementing this regulation in the country.
It was attended by 140 participants in the auditorium of the Agrarian Coffee Cooperative La Convención (COCLA), who came to learn about the technical and environmental guidelines that will enable Peruvian producers to meet European demands and maintain their competitiveness in international markets.
During the opening, a representative from MIDAGRI gave a welcome speech, emphasizing the ministry's commitment to promoting sustainable, deforestation-free agriculture. In turn, the representative from the Provincial Municipality of La Convención reaffirmed the local government's support to strengthen joint efforts with regional producers.

Additionally, the National Forest and Wildlife Service (SERFOR) presented the Use Transfer Mechanism for Agroforestry Systems (CUSAF), an enabling title that formalizes agricultural, forestry, and livestock activities on lands designated for forestry and protection.
Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Agrarian Environmental Affairs (DGAAA) explained the scope of the Agrarian and Irrigation Environmental Management Regulation (RGASAR), which sets guidelines to ensure the environmental sustainability of agricultural investments in the country.
The event also featured participation from representatives of the Cusco Regional Government, the Provincial Municipality of La Convención, the National Intercultural University of Quillabamba (UNIQ), the Cooperative Center of the Valley of La Convención (COCLA), Fair Trade, DEVIDA, Agromercado, SERFOR, and various coffee and cacao cooperatives from the valley.
