The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) participated in the “Sustainable Amazon” Forum: Regenerative Approach in Agricultural Chains, held on October 3rd at the San Martín Technological Innovation Center, as part of ExpoAmazónica 2025.

During the forum, the importance of regenerative agriculture was highlighted as a key strategy to restore ecosystems, improve productivity and resilience in agricultural systems, and generate economic and social benefits for local communities. This contributes to sustainable, deforestation-free development in the Amazon.

In this context, Lizardo Calderón Romero, Director General of Agrarian Policies at MIDAGRI, presented the progress and technical guidelines for Peru's adaptation to the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

His presentation addressed the actions promoted by the ministry to ensure that products such as coffee, cocoa, and palm oil comply with the national intervention strategy within the EUDR framework, based on three pillars: Generating information, clarifying the legal framework, and risk management."

The session also featured representatives from WWF, TNC, CIFOR-ICRAF, Machu Picchu Foods, producer cooperatives, civil society, and regional governments. They shared experiences and commitments regarding the implementation of a regenerative approach in the Amazon's agricultural production chains.

In this way, MIDAGRI reaffirms its commitment to sustainable, deforestation-free agriculture, working closely with producers, businesses, public institutions, and international cooperation to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of the Peruvian Amazon.
