With the goal of strengthening regional capacities and boosting coffee and cocoa exports to the European Union, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) held the National Workshop on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) in the city of Huánuco.
The event, held on September 11 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Huánuco, brought together regional authorities, representatives from public institutions, and experts from the agricultural sector.
During the first session, aimed at public officials, the national strategy for EUDR compliance was presented, highlighting key aspects such as plot geolocation, current legislation, and the due diligence process—all essential for national producers and European importers to comply with the regulation.
The importance of the Crop Guidance Framework and the outlook for the 2025/2026 agricultural campaign were also emphasized. This framework is a key tool to guide crop planning and reduce production risks.
Specialists from MIDAGRI’s Directorate of Economic Studies explained how these measures enable national producers to integrate into the compliance chain, ensuring that coffee and cacao from Huánuco continue to access international markets under sustainability standards.
The second session, held on September 12, was directed at producers, cooperatives, associations, and coffee and cacao exporters. On this day, technological tools for plot geolocation were introduced, along with the use of digital applications in agriculture, the benefits of productive formalization, and the importance of environmental sustainability as a requirement for international competitiveness.
Through this initiative, MIDAGRI reaffirms its commitment to working in a coordinated manner so that Peruvian coffee and cacao producers are prepared to meet new international requirements—contributing to sustainable development and strengthening Peru’s position in the world’s most demanding markets.
