Coffee-growing women from Luya conquer Europe and the United States with their first export

Amazonian coffee, led by women, is already shining in the world's most demanding markets. The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), through Agromercado, supported the Las Flores de Luya Women's Association in its first international export of green coffee, destined for the European Union and the United States.

In this transaction, the organization shipped an 18,975 kg container to Belgium, purchased by SUCAFINA, and simultaneously sent another container of the same volume to Los Angeles, United States, also purchased by the same importing company. With both shipments, which totaled more than 37 tons of exported coffee, the members achieved sales exceeding S/ 860,000, consolidating their first international commercial commitment and marking a milestone in their organizational history.

Female Leadership Promoting Amazonian Coffee

The Las Flores de Luya Women's Association is made up of 243 women producers who cultivate more than 420 hectares of coffee in the districts of Pisuquía, Ocalli, Providencia, and Ocumal, in the province of Luya, Amazonas region. Their annual production exceeds 151 tons, positioning them as a benchmark for sustainability and quality in the coffee sector.
Since 2024, with the support of Agromercado, producers they receive technical assistance in business management, traceability, organic certification, website development, and health registration. They are also making progress in implementing the European Union Regulation on Deforestation (EUDR), a key requirement for accessing high-value markets.

A transcendental step for Peruvian coffee

The shipment, scheduled for September 4, 2025, represents a historic achievement for the coffee-growing women of Luya, which demonstrate how coordination between the government and producer organizations can strengthen competitiveness, open up new business opportunities, and ensure the sustainability of Peruvian coffee in the global market.
With this milestone, MIDAGRI reaffirms its commitment to the development of sustainable, inclusive, and competitive agriculture, working together with producers, exporters, authorities, and international cooperation agencies, for the benefit of the Peruvian countryside and its communities.
