As part of compliance with the European Union Regulation on Deforestation (EUDR), the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation is leading the process of geolocating agricultural plots in 13 priority regions of the country, with the aim of facilitating access of Peruvian coffee and cocoa to major European markets.

This strategic intervention is part of the strengthening of the Integrated Agricultural Statistics System (SIEA) and is being implemented in coordination with the regional governments and agricultural organizations of San Martín, Ucayali, Amazonas, Junín, Pasco, Huánuco, Cajamarca, Cusco, Puno, Madre de Dios, Loreto, Ayacucho, and Apurímac, territories that account for a high proportion of national coffee and cocoa production.

The geolocation of plots will allow for the consolidation of a reliable, interoperable, and aligned agricultural database to strengthen the traceability systems required by the EUDR, facilitating the identification of deforestation-free areas and contributing to Peruvian producers' access to international markets.

MIDAGRI is promoting this process as a firm commitment to environmental sustainability and to producers who cultivate without deforestation. Geolocation will ensure the traceability required by the EUDR and facilitate the entry of our products into the most demanding markets in the world.

As part of this process, MIDAGRI will conduct technical and informational training sessions in prioritized regions, with the goal of strengthening local capacities, providing direct guidance to agricultural producers, and answering questions related to the process of geolocating plots and their connection to the international market.

This action is part of Midagri's institutional strategy to promote competitive, sustainable, and territorially focused agricultural development, in coordination with different levels of government, the private sector, and international cooperation agencies.
