The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) participated in the Regional Meeting of Women Cocoa Producers "For a Sustainable Cocoa Chain with a Woman's Face", organized by the Peruvian Association of Cocoa Producers (APPCACAO), with support from the German cooperation GIZ, UNDP, FOLUR, HUMUNDI and CONVEAGRO, which brought together women producers, leaders, young people with leadership potential and representatives of various public and private institutions, in an effort to strengthen female participation in the cocoa value chain.

During the event, MIDAGRI presented the National Strategy for Compliance with the EUDR Regulation, which seeks to ensure that products such as cocoa, coffee, and palm oil can be exported to the European Union while meeting the requirements of being deforestation-free, having been produced in accordance with national legislation, and having a due diligence declaration from the importer.

It was also emphasized that this adaptation process incorporates a vision of inclusion, recognizing the importance of creating equal conditions for all stakeholders in the sector, especially rural women, who play a key role in the sustainable development of Peruvian agriculture.

As a result of this community work, proposals were agreed upon to strengthen women's participation, such as fostering female and community leadership, incorporating gender equity into institutions, promoting gender-sensitive education and awareness, developing programs for women, youth, and families, promoting sustainable and ethical practices, establishing strategic alliances, and influencing public policy.

The event shared diagnoses on gender gaps, experiences in sustainable production, and progress in the collective construction of the APPCACAO Gender Policy and the Regional Cocoa Agenda in Junín, with a focus on sustainability and interculturality.
