For a sustainable and competitive agriculture! The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) will develop pilot export projects for coffee and cocoa, with the aim of identifying relevant information to support future export processes, taking into account the criteria of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

Thus, MIDAGRI conducted technical visits to producer organizations from May 15 to 26, 2025, in the regions of Amazonas (Bagua), Cajamarca (Jaén), San Martín (Chazuta), and Junín (Satipo-Pangoa). These visits allowed for the collection of key information on the current status of exports within the framework of the EUDR regulation.

The implementation of export pilots is an important step toward consolidating trade relations and field-testing traceability and verification mechanisms that will position Peru as a reliable supplier of deforestation-free products.

The organizations visited were: PIMCOS Coffee (Jaén), APROCAM Agrarian Cooperative (Bagua), Gera Organero Coffee Producers Association (Moyobamba), Allima Cacao Agrarian Cooperative (Chazuta), Satipo Coffee Agrarian Cooperative (Satipo), and Sonomoro Agrarian Cooperative (Pangoa). The participating partners for the pilot shipment of products to the European market were identified in all of them.

During the tour, problems were also identified and are being evaluated to identify appropriate solutions. The participation of international buyers such as Silva Cacao (Belgium), Beneke Coffee (Germany), and ICAM (Italy) was also highlighted. The organizations have confirmed shipping dates starting in June 2025. More than 45 tons of cocoa and 45 tons of coffee are expected to be exported in this initial phase.
