The Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute (Ingemmet) is currently creating maps which allows people make queries directed to any geological work. This is held in the framework of the health crisis and also as part of an institutional policy of accelerated innovation for economic reactivation.

In this regard, the National Geological Chart at 1: 50000 scale will be the first product of Ingemmet. Thus, it will make available to all users a set of operations through the “Machine Learning” application. The system is based on a Geological Geodatabase structure that allows quick queries.

The information from Ingemmet has been migrated to the Geological Geodatabase for a better storage and administration. This way, it allows automated processes, control and analysis, in addition to implementing editing rules with the purpose to minimize errors in geological maps.

Furthermore, the integration of maps has been held through this process, which consists of the correction of splices, validation and standardization of the database.

The data can be interrelated with a great amount of information through the connections of common fields. Thus, it will allow the research work in order to be held and to plan mining exploration work along the Andes and the Peruvian coast. This product will be available by the end of 2020 and also it will be part of the digital government portfolio.

There are 675 geological maps at a scale of 1: 50,000, which has been elaborated in the years 2000 – 2017. They are all available in Shapefile format and they can be downloaded from GEOCATMIN; whereas 180 maps produced during the years 2018 and 2019 are in revision process. However, the preliminary products are all published in the L Series Bulletins.
