Exhibition “Itinerant Pucará Bull. Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands” to be displayed in Ireland

The Peruvian cultural exhibition “Itinerant Pucará Bull. Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands” will be displayed at the EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin from June 9 to 13. It is made up of fifteen original pieces of crafts which were donated by the Pucará artisan’s association in 2021.

 

The Pucará Bull is a cultural and ancestral expression of the Puno region, as well as one of the most popular art pieces in Peruvian craftwork, and the product of our miscegenation. 

 

According to the Andean worldview, the Pucará bull figure is seen as a symbol of strength, peace, abundance, and prosperity, as well as a symbol of the identity of southern Peru.

 

The Embassy of Peru in Ireland will head up this event and allow the Irish public to admire the skill of our local artisans, the beauty of an authentic piece of Peruvian art and our cultural heritage; elements that will undoubtedly boost the promoting work of our country in this city.

 

The exhibition “Itinerant Pucará Bull. Ambassador of the Peruvian Highlands” started its international tour at the beginning of 2022, thanks to the work of the Directorate of Cultural Promotion of the Peruvian Ministry Foreign Affairs and has been very well received in cities such as Buenos Aires, Bogota, Santa Cruz, New York, Washington D.C, Montreal, Berlin, and Tokyo. This year, the European tour of this exhibition will start in Dublin, Ireland.
