4 Peruvian destinations awarded as “Green Destinations” for their sustainable success.

The international ITB Berlin 2022 has awarded four Peruvian destinations for their sustainability: Tingo María National Park, the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Gocta – Kuélap and the Colca Canyon.

The international ITB Berlin 2022 has awarded four Peruvian destinations for their sustainability: Tingo María National Park, the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, Gocta – Kuélap and the Colca Canyon.
Of the 4 destinations chosen as Green Destinations, the first three are in the Peruvian Amazon.
The Tingo María National Park, a paradise in the Peruvian amazon, stands out for its biological richness, more than 170 bird species, the Sleeping Beauty mountain, the Tres de Mayo circuit through an amazing orchid and butterfly garden and its waterfalls and the Lechuzas Cave, full of impressive stalactites, stalagmites, mantles and columns formed over thousands of years and for the huge variety of animals it hosts.
Pacaya Samiria, located in the Loreto region, is the second largest protected area in Peru, and home to an important variety of flora and fauna species like the huge paiche fish and the pink dolphin. In addition, it is home to several families who interact with the environment preserving ancestral practices.
Gocta, shines for maintaining the harmony of nature, its moors, lagoons and one of the highest waterfalls in the world, at 771 meters height. Kuelap also stands out for the amazing fortress of the Chachapoyas culture, with walls up to 30 meters high.
Finally, the Colca Canyon, located in Arequipa, is a destination full of tradition, culture and custom that includes one of the deepest canyons in the world, kingdom of the famous and spectacular Andean condor.
