Mestizaje will arrive at the Peruvian Embassy in the USA

At the Embassy of Peru in the United States, Peruvian artist Inti Pachurin will exhibit over 20 photographs that highlight the importance of "Mestizo" culture throughout Peru.

Inti’s artistic proposal, Los Mestizos: Survivors of History, will be exhibited for the first time in Washington, D.C., from March 24 to May 24 of this year.

His work reminds us that Peru is a multicultural, extremely diverse country that has encompassed and fostered remarkable multiculturalism ever since European cultures first arrived.

Inti has lived in New York for over 20 years and travels to Peru frequently. His exhibit features portraits of residents of different cities in Peru, including Cajamarca, Ayacucho, Cusco, Puno, Iquitos, Trujillo, among others.

Los Mestizos: Survivors of History is a visual anthropological record that also captures the enormous biodiversity of our land, creating awareness on the importance of protecting our ecosystem.

“Oppressors have existed in all cultures. They have transformed societies, either by physical or economic force, imposing their dominance over the rest of the population. We mestizos originate from that context,” says Inti.

The exhibition will be open to the public until May 24th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Art Gallery of the Peruvian Embassy, 1700 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20036.
