Luminous mystique of the royal body of Lady of Cao
The Department of History of the Art of the Johns Hopkins University, in collaboration with The Embassy of Peru in the United States of America, presents the annual Distinguished Lecture in Art of the Ancient Americas, with a lecture "Luminous Mystique of the Royal Body The Lady of Cao, Moche Culture, 500 CE" by professor John Verano (Tulane University), biological anthropologist who participated in the discovery of the Lady of Cao.

About the Series
The Distinguished Lecture in Art of the Ancient Americas is an annual event aimed at drawing scholarly attention to the rich pre-Hispanic visual culture of Mesoamerica and the Andes. Now in its seventeenth year, the series fosters collaboration between the university and its partners in the arts and museums communities. The lecture is free of charge.

About Lady of Cao:
Discovered in 2006, here remains became one of Peru's most alarming and significant archaeological findings over the last years. The role of women at government levels during the development of pre-Hispanic cultures in South America was reconsidered thanks to this find (source: Andina agency).
