Internships at the Embassy of Peru in the United States for the Fall 2022 Semester.

Available positions

ECONOMIC DEPARTMENT (1 intern)

  • Looking for an intern interested in the bilateral trade relations between Peru and the US. Especially in the situation of Peruvian products and Peruvian businesses in the US market.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office, primarily of managing databases in Excel.
  • Knowledge related to website development appreciated.
  • The intern will be required to work in person two to three times per week.

POLITICAL DEPARTMENT (1 intern)

  • Looking for an intern interested in (i) monitoring and researching about the US main domestic political actors; (ii) obtaining information and useful inputs for the preparation of weekly political reports about the main political processes taking place in the US (For example, the upcoming legislative or mid-term elections); (iii) keeping updated the list of the main US think tanks that publish political reports on Peru (their leaders, members and sources of financing, etc.).
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • The intern will be required to work in person two to three times per week.

CONGRESSIONAL DEPARTMENT (1 intern)

  • Looking for an intern interested in learning about the Embassy’s work with the United States Congress, and its impact on the Peru-United States bilateral relationship.
  • Monitoring hearings, communiques and markup sessions regarding foreign policy and international trade issues in the Senate and the House of Representatives.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • The intern will be required to work in person two to three times per week, and can switch to remote work when the current academic semester ends.

Requirements

  • Availability of around 20 hours per week, for the current academic semester (Fall 2022)
  • The intern must be fluent in speaking and writing in English and Spanish.
  • All candidates must show proof of valid health and accident insurance
  • All candidates must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19
  • All information provided at the Embassy and the duties fulfilled must be kept strictly confidential.

Conditions

  • Unpaid internship
  • Located in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area
  • The intern will be part of an Embassy’s department and will be closely monitored by its members regarding the objectives established at the beginning of the program
  • The intern will not necessarily be offered a job at the end of the internship
  • The Embassy will issue a certificate upon successful completion of the internship
  • Upon request, the Embassy can also provide an evaluation of the intern’s performance
