Production of Fishing sector increased 56.77% in June of 2024

During June of 2024, the Fishing sector increased in 56.77% compared to the same month of the last year and added three months of continuous growth. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) n the technical report Conjuncture Progress of the Economic Activity. It also stated that the mentioned sector accumulated a growth of 45.02% during the semester January-June of 2024.
In the result of the last June influenced the greater extraction of maritime origin species (74.85%) for indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil) reaching a extraction of 241,565 tons that against the 41,535 tons extracted in the same month of the year 2023, is equivalent to a growth of 481.59%. It is worth to mention that the landing of this resource was registered in the North, Center and South zone of the country coastline, mainly in the ports of Chimbote, Malabrigo, Coishco, Callao and Tambo de Mora.
So also, the capture of species for direct human consumption increased in 17.02%; that intended to the canned industry, 51.3%; preparation for frozen, 23.1%; and for fresh state consumption, 10.1%. On the other hand, the continental origin fishing decreased in 21.02% before the lower extraction of species for consumption in fresh state, preparation for frozen and curing.
Electricity production increased in 0.06%
During the month under analysis, the electricity generation grew in 0.06% as a result of the greater generation of hydroelectric origin (18.6%) and the main renewable energies (36.9%). This mentioned result was counterbalanced by the lower generation of thermoelectric origin energy (-15.1%).
Among the companies that increased its production outstood: Electroperú, Fenix Power Perú, Statkraft Perú, Egemsa, Orazul Energy Perú S.A., Inland Energy S.A.C., Egasa, San Gaban and Celepsa.
Production of Mining and Hydrocarbons sector reduced in 7.47%
During the month of June of 2024, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector decreased in 7.47% given the lower dynamism of the metal-mining activity (-8.08%), associated to the low production of zinc (-20.9%), iron (-14.7%), copper (-12.0%), gold (-2.5%) and lead (-0.3%). Meanwhile, the production of molybdenum (24.6%), silver (6.1%) and tin (5.8%) grew.
The hydrocarbons subsector contracted in 3.51% due to the effect of the lower production of natural gas (-10.2%) and liquids of natural gas (-1.2%). Unlike the exploitation of crude oil, that increased in 1.5%.
Domestic cement consumption decreased in 5.48%
Through the technical report Conjuncture Progress of the Economic Activity, the INEI informed that the domestic cement consumption decreased in 5.48%, explained by the lower dynamism both of private projects and self-construction projects.
Investment Expenditure of the General Government increased in 6.72%
During June of 2024, the Investment Expenditure of the General Government (S/4,419 million) grew in 6.72% compared to the same month of the last year, based in the increase of the investment in construction works in the national and regional government area; as well as a slight increase of the investment of machinery and equipment of the national government.
On the other hand, the Consumption Expenditure of the General Government, in nominal terms totalized S/ 10,008 million, it means, 3.44% lower compared to the same month of the year 2023.
Granting of mortgage credits grew in 5.94%
During June of 2024, mortgage credits totalized S/ 65,250 million, registering an increase of 5.94% compared to June of 2023. Positive trend that keeps by six months in a row.
Likewise, the credits the credits granted to big, medium and micro-enterprises grew in 0.97%, by totalizing S/ 217,344 million. On the other hand, the granting of consumption credits decreased by 1.13%, by placing in S/ 72,011 million.
On the other hand, the placement of credit cards of the multiple banking was placed in 6,280 thousand units, a lower figure in 5,02% compared with the same month of 2023. the last year.
Total imported amount decreased in 5.36%
According to the updated information as of July 18 of this year, during the month of June of the current year, the total imported amount of goods was of US$ 4,067 million, with a negative variation of 5.36% compared to the value registered in June 2023.
Likewise, the total imported amount of consumer goods totalized US$ 898 million, decreasing in 11.95% compared to the same month of 2023, followed by the acquisition of raw materials and intermediate products, by totalizing US$ 1,935 million and showed a reduction of 6.27% compared to the value reached in June 2023.
On the other hand, the import of capital goods and construction materials (US$ 1,233 million) increased in 1.68% compared to June of the year 2023.
