Traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased 6.1% in April of 2024

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of April of 2024, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country increased in 6.1% compared to the same month of 2023; and during the last twelve months (May 2023-April 2024) increased in 2.8%.

In the technical report Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths indicates that the monthly result was based in the greater traffic flow of light-duty vehicles (5.4%) and heavy-duty vehicles (7.1%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles grew 7.1%
During the month under analysis, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles increased 7.1% compared with April of 2023. This behavior was caused to the greater demand of heavy cargo transportation service in the following sector, Agricultural, Maritime Fishing, Manufacturing and Construction; dimmed by the lower production in the mining and hydrocarbons sector, before the operative problems in the mining companies and in the hydrocarbons subsector due to socio-environmental conflicts.
The tollbooths that registered the greater traffic flow of heavy-duty units were: To the north, Piura (Loma Larga Baja 574.8%, Piura Sullana 6.7% and Chulucanas 3.1%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 10.0%), San Martín (Aguas Claras 9.3%), La Libertad (Chicama 8.0%, Virú 3.4% and Pacanguilla 0.3%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 5.5%) and Áncash (Huarmey 2.2%). In the center, Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 9.7%, Variant of Pasamayo 7.5%, El Paraíso 4.9%, Corcona 2.5% and Fortaleza 2.1%) and Junín (Quiulla 6.9%).
In the south, Puno (Santa Lucía 34.9%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar 34.3% and Ilo 12.8%), Ica (Marcona 15.0% and Jahuay Chincha 6.8%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 14.8%), Arequipa (Matarani Concesión 8.3% and Uchumayo-Concesión 6.2%) and Apurímac (Pichirhua 8.2%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 7.2%
During April of 2024, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 7.2% compared to the same month of 2023, based by the greater movement of cargo vehicles, such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty trucks for loading of 3 axle (7.2%), 4 axle (5.5%), 5 axle (5.9%), 6 axle (7.3%) and 7 axle (37.0%).

Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased 5.4%
During the month of April of 2024, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles reported through the tollbooths of the country grew 5.4% compared to the same month of the last year. This behavior was associated to the religious festivities, anniversaries of foundation of cities; celebration of touristic weeks with gastronomic and artisanal fairs, the transportation of domestic and foreign tourist; encouraging the development of commerce, accommodation and domestic tourism.
The tollbooths with high transit were: to the north, Piura (Loma Larga Baja 620.6%, Chulucanas 18.5% and Piura Sullana 8.8%), San Martín (Pongo 5.0%) and Cajamarca (Pomahuaca - Pucará 0.6%).
In the center, Lima (Serpentine of Pasamayo 0.4%); and in the south, Apurímac (Pichirhua 4.2%).
