41.5% of households of the rural area headed by women accessed to some food program

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), in the technical report Statistics with Gender Perspective, informed that according to the results of the National Household Survey (Enaho), in the first quarter of 2024, 41.5% of households headed by women of the rural area, accessed to some food program, increased compared to the same quarter of the last year in 4.8 percentage points.
Likewise, 50.8% of households headed by men of the rural area had some member that accessed to food programs, increasing in 4.9 percentage points.
It increases the number of women and men that have access to the Comprehensive Health Insurance
During the first quarter of the year 2024, the proportion of women that have a Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) reached 62.3%, growing compared to the first quarter of the year 2023, in 2.3 percentage points and in men, reached 57.2%, increasing in 2.4 percentage points.
Meanwhile, those affiliated to the EsSalud insurance represented 23.7% in women and 24.9% in men.
It increases the proportion of girls and boys that use the Internet
During the period under analysis, 64.1% of girls and 67.1% of boys of 6 to 14 years old had used the Internet, increasing compared to the first quarter of 2023 in 4.1 and 8.5 percentage points, respectively.
85.7% of women and 88.7% of men of 30 to 49 years old used the Internet, increasing in 3.1 percentage points, in each case.
It increases the number of women that daily use the Internet
During the first quarter of 2024, 91% women of 6 years old and older daily used the Internet, increasing compared to the same quarter of the last year in one percentage point; meanwhile, men of 6 years old and older that daily used the Internet, represented 90.4%.
Women mostly use the Internet to get in touch with other people
During the first quarter of 2024, 92.5% of women used the Internet to get in touch with other people, 91.2% for activities of entertainment, 79.5% in order to get information, 30.8% for operations of electronic banking, 20.4% for formal education and training activities and 18.4% to download antivirus updates, applications or software, among the main ones.
In the case of men, 93% used the Internet for entertainment activities, 90.8% to get in touch, 79.9% to get information, 32.1% for operations of electronic banking and 22.7% to download antivirus updates, applications or software.
It increases the access to financial system by women and men
During the period under analysis, and according to the Enaho results as of the first quarter of 2024, 59% of women and 61% of men of 18 years old and older had some account in the financial system, which represents an increase of 3.2 and 2 percentage points, respectively, compared to the first quarter of the year 2023.
According to age groups, 66.7% of women and 63.9% of men of 18 to 29 years old had some account in the financial system, increasing in 6.8 and 2.7 percentage points, respectively.
In the case of women and men of 30 to 59 years old, 60.2% and 61.1% had access to the financial system, increasing in 3.1 and 2.2 percentage points, respectively.
