IMF develops Technical Assistance Mission of Compilation of Energy Bills and Air Emissions in the country

The Statistics Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), with the support of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), the financing of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), have been developing during the current week the Mission of Technical Assistance about Compilation of Energy Bills and Air Emissions in Peru.
The event framed in the Program of Development of Capacities in Environmental Statistics and climate change in the country, started in May 27 and will end the next May 31 in the INEI head office. Its main goal is to strengthen the environmental statistics and the climate change in the country, contributing this way to the effective policy formulation of mitigation and adaptation before this global phenomenon.
During the Mission, is tackling issues such the inventories of Sources of Information about Energy and Air Emissions, Energy Balance the Inventory of Greenhouse Effect Gases, Environmental Pollutants, the Land-Use change, Mobile and Stationary Combustion, The Economic Activities, The Information Gaps and the Compilation of Experimental Accounts of Energy and Air Emissions.
The equipment of the Mission is comprised by Mrs. Lisbeth Rivas, main economist of the Division of the Real Sector of the Departments of Statistics of the IMF, Mr. Alcino Gomes, expert in environment and weather of the multilateral entity.
The opening of the event was performed by the Chief of the INEI, Mr. Peter Abad, who addressed some words of welcome to the participants about the need to prepare this environmental account, within the framework of adoption of public policies to face the effect of climate change.
To this program attend representatives of the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Energy and Mines, Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, National Forestry and Wildlife Service, National Service of Meteorology and Hydrography, Supervisory Body of Investment in Energy and Mining, and the INEI.
