76.6% of adolescents of 14 to 17 years old were devoted just to study in the fourth quarter of 2023

According to the results of the Nacional Household Survey (ENAHO), in the fourth quarter of 2023, 76.6% of adolescents of the country were devoted just to study. Compared to the same quarter of 2022, increased in 5.2 percentage points. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics in the technical report State of Childhood and Adolescence
 
Also added that 12.4% of adolescents study and perform some economic activity, meanwhile, 6.4% are neither studying nor working and 4.5% just work selling products such as candies, sweets or proving some service such as car wash, shoe polishing among other activities.
 
18.4% of girls, boys and adolescents suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort
During the fourth quarter of 2023, 18.4% of girls, boys and adolescents expressed they suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort, which meant 1.3 percentage points more than in the same quarter of the last year.
 
According to sex, 18.5% of girls and female adolescents and 18.4% of boys and male adolescents suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort. By residence area, in urban area reached 21.2%, meanwhile in rural area reached 8.7%.
 
Increased girls, boys and adolescents that sought medical attention
During the last quarter of 2023, 64.2% of girls, boys and adolescents that suffer some health problem or chronic discomfort, sought medical attention in some health center; a figure greater in 2.1 percentage points than the registered in the same quarter of the last year.
 
According to place of medical consultation, 21.9% went for medical consultation to a pharmacy or apothecary and 21.7% and to an establishment of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), among the main ones.
 
92.9% of girls, boys and adolescents have some health insurance
During the quarter under analysis, 92.9% of girls, boys and adolescents accessed to some health insurance. From this total, 69.4% has just the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) and 20.0% has the Social Health Insurance (EsSalud).
 
In the rural area, 96.4% of this population group have a health insurance are insured; being that one of greater access the Comprehensive Health Insurance with 92.2%. Meanwhile, in the urban area, 91.9% has health insurance, where 62.8% is affiliated just to the SIS and 24.7% is affiliated to EsSalud.
 
77.2% of the population of 6 to 17 years old accessed to the Internet service
The INEI informed that at national level, 77.2% of boys, girls and adolescents between 6 to 17 years old, used the Internet service. Percentage that increased in 4.3 percentage points, compared to the same quarter of the last year. 
 
88.6% of girls, boys and adolescents of 6 to 17 years old access to the Internet through the cellphone
During the fourth quarter of 2023, 88.6% of under 6 to 17 years old accessed to the Internet through the cellphone, increasing in 2.9 percentage points compared to the same quarter of 2022.
 
Likewise, 29.2% of this population group accessed to the Internet inside the household and 11.6% in some education establishment, with increases of 2.2 and 5.0 percentage points, respectively.
 
53.5% of the households of the country has among their members girls, boys and adolescents
During the quarter under analysis, 53.5% of the households of the country have among their members at least a girl, boy or adolescent, registering an increase of 0.8 percentage point, compared to the same quarter of 2022. In the urban area, 54.1% of the households fulfill this condition and in the rural area 51.4%.
