Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles at national level increased 2.7% in December of 2023

The national Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of December of 2023, traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles reported by tollbooths increased in 2.7% compared to the same month of 2022. Meanwhile, the annual variation decreased in 1.6%.
In the technical report of Vehicular flow by Tollbooths indicates that this result was influenced by the greater demand of the mentioned vehicles, which was reflected in the positive performance of the Mining and Agriculture activities; attenuated by the negative behavior of the Manufacturing, Construction and Fishing sectors, affected by the lower private investment and extreme weather events (due to the climate change), among other factors.
The tollbooths with high traffic flow were: to the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 21.0% and Aguas Claras 4.9%), Áncash (Huarmey 1.6%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 0.9%); in the center, Lima (Variant of Pasamayo 17.6% and Fortaleza 1.4%) and Junín (Quiulla 3.3%); and in the south, Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 192.0%), Apurímac (Pichirhua 183.0%), Ica (Marcona 124.5% and Jahuay Chincha 13.9%), Arequipa (Uchumayo-Concesión 16.5%, Matarani-Concesión 10.1% and Patahuasi 3.8%) and Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar 12.1%).
Traffic Flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle grew 4.3%
In December of 2023, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for loading of 3 to 7 axle increased in 4.3% compared to the same month of 2022, due to the increase of heavy-duty vehicles such as: trailers, semi-trailers and heavy-duty truck of 3 axle (12.5%), 4 axle (2.0%), 5 axle (4.6%) and 7 axle (14.6%); attenuated by the decrease of vehicles of 6 axle (-0.2%).
Traffic Flow of light-duty vehicles increased 6.9%
During the month of December of 2023, the traffic Flow of light-duty vehicles through the toll booths increased in 6.9% compared to the same month of 2022. This behavior is explained by the festivities such as Immaculate Conception and Christmas; as well as, the preparations for the celebration of new year, that driven by the touristic, commercial, accommodation and restaurants activities. In the year 2023, this indicator grew 4.4%.
The tollbooths with the greater traffic flow were: to the north, in San Martín (Moyobamba 149.5% and Aguas Claras 7.5%), La Libertad (Virú 14.7%, Chicama 3.0% and Pacanguilla 0.7%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 14.6%), Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 14.2%), Áncash (Huarmey 7.8%) and Piura (Chulucanas 6.6%, Loma Larga Baja 2.0% and Piura Sullana 1.3%). In the center, Lima (Variant of Pasamayo 13.1%, Corcona 5.8%, El Paraíso 5.8%, Fortaleza 5.7% and Serpentine of Pasamayo 0.7%) and Junín (Quiulla 4.9%).
Also, in the south, Apurímac (Pichirhua 220.4%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 217.9%), Ica (Marcona 186.7%, Jahuay Chincha 10.7%), Arequipa (Uchumayo-Concesión 22.7%, Matarani-Concesión 11.2%, Patahuasi 7.8%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar 15.5% and Ilo 11.9%) and Puno (Santa Lucía 8.8%).
Traffic Flow of vehicles at national level increased 5.1%
During December of 2023, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow that registered the traffic flow of light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles through the tollbooths of the country registered a growth of 5.1% compared to the same month of 2022. This result was influenced, mainly, by the greater traffic flow of light-duty (6.9%) and heavy-duty (2.7%) units.
It should be pointed out that during the year 2023, the Total National Rate of Vehicular Flow increased 1.8%.
