Restaurants activity increased in 3.66% in December 2023

The restaurants activity reported increase of 3.66%, as a result of the positive evolution of its large components, after registering a downturn of four months in a row. During the year 2023, the sector accumulated a growth of 2.56% due to the greater activity of restaurants, fast foods, Chifas (Chinese food) and Pollerías (Grilled chicken restaurants), mainly.
Restaurants group increased 3.62%
Restaurants group increased 3.62%, influenced by the greater demand in the business of fast foods, Pollerías (Grilled chicken restaurants), restaurants, touristic restaurants, coffee restaurants, Chifas (Chinese food), Japanese food and sandwich restaurants, in response to a varied gastronomic selection, promotions with credit cards, remuneration account and subscription to mass communication media, marketing by social networks and discounts in delivery service.
Contributed to the activity the celebrations of Christmas and New Year, the holding of gastronomic fairs such as “Carne y Fuego 2023”, “Expo Perú Regiones” and “Christmas Handicraft and Gastronomic Fair” in Lima. Likewise, positively influenced the opening of shopping centers. With the same trend evolved the business of Chinesse food, OItalian, food, pizza restaurants, international food and creole food.
Other activities of foods service registered an increase of 2.98%
Other activities of foods service registered an increase of 2.98%; favored by the food concessionaire’s activity due to the renovation and capture of contracts of food services in company cafeterias of the mining, electricity, financial institutions sectors, clinics, hospitals, institutes, universities and ministries, delivering a balanced and varied menu. Likewise, the provision of foods for contractors (food service to air and inland transportation companies) grew due to the greater frequency of travels linked to the increase of national and international tourism in response to the long holidays of the month.
Beverage service registered an increase of 4.24%
The beverage service presented a positive variation of 4.24%, due to the development of business of coffee shops, juice shops, discos and bars, due to the expansion of spaces, opening of branches, business partnerships with financial companies, extensive menu of cold and hot beverages, snacks, promotions, Christmas breakfasts and presentation of live shows. Contributed also the activity of celebration of end-of-year festivities.
Catering service increased by 17.93%
Provision of foods by contract (catering) registered a significative increase of 17.93%, by requirement of the service of preparation and distribution of foods for events, in the attention of coffee break for directory meetings, buffet for marriages, baptisms, graduation party and business lunches.
