Grape production increased 27.6% in November of 2023

In November of 2023, the grape production reached 152 thousand 419 tons and grew by 27.6% compared to the same month of the year 2022 (119 thousand 477 tons), influenced by the advancement of harvests destined for foreign market and agribusiness. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Peru: Departmental Economic Outlook.
 
In this regard, the production areas of Ica (448.1%) and La Libertad (49.7%), contributed with the 38.6% of the national total. Also, the departments of Ancash (104.1%), Arequipa (16.7%) and Cajamarca (57%) showed positive behavior. On the other hand, in the departments of Lambayeque (-24.1%), San Martín (-10.4%) and Piura (-8.9%) decreased. 
 
The departments of Piura and San Martín contributed with the 58.7% of the production of paddy rice of the country
The production of paddy rice increased in Piura (937.3%) and San Martin (12.3%), contributing together with the 58.7% of the national total. Likewise, grew in Ucayali (14.4%), Huánuco (10.1%) and Loreto (1.8%). Nevertheless, the production of this cereal reduced in Madre de Dios (-60.5%), Junín (-53.1%), Amazonas (-41.0%) and Cajamarca (-10.1%). 
 
At national level, the production of paddy rice amounted to 189 thousand 949 tons, higher level in 22.9% compared to the same month of 2022 that was of 154 thousand 574 tons. This result was driven by the largest harvested area and better performances obtained of this got of this crop, intended for the domestic market.
 
Poultry production reduced in 21 departments
The INEI informed that the poultry production decreased in 21 departments of the country, mainly in Arequipa (-6.6%), Ica (-3.3%) and La Libertad (-3.0%); that together contributed with the 31.4% of the total poultry production. Nevertheless, the department of Lima presented a positive performance of 0.5%, with a participation of 56.4% at national level.
 
Across the country, the poultry production, decreased by 1.5% compared to November of 2022, bases in the lower placement of BB chicken, meat line due to the high costs of food supplies, such as soy and hard yellow corn. 
 
Copper production increased by 11.7%
The copper production expanded by 11.7%, in November of 2023, compared to the same month of 2022, keeping a growth for 15 months in a row, determined by the high levels extracted from the following companies Anglo American Quellaveco, Antamina, Antapaccay, Minera Las Bambas, Southern Perú Copper Corporation and Hudbay Perú. 
 
At departmental level, contributed the volumes collected in the departments of Cusco (30.0%), Tacna (29.3%), Moquegua (24.9%), Ancash (24.2%) and Apurímac (20.2%), which concentrated the 69.7% of the total copper production. On the other hand, it reduced in Junín (-26.3%), Cajamarca (-25.9%), Ica (-15.1%), Ayacucho (-9.2%), Puno (-7.7%), Pasco (-6.4%) and Arequipa (-5.7%). 
 
The electricity production increased in fifteen departments
During the month under analysis, underscored the production of electricity energy in the departments of Huánuco (111.5%), Ica (75.9%), Junín (75.7%), Cusco (19.6%), Ancash (7.5%) and Huancavelica (6.5%), together accounting the 32.6% of the total energy generated. Nevertheless, it decreased in Moquegua (-53.0%), Ucayali (-43.8%), Lambayeque (-16.2%), Arequipa (-13.9%) and Lima (-9.9%), among the main ones.
 
During November of 2023, the electric power generation at national level increased by 0.6%, explained by the greater power generation of hydraulic origin in the power stations of Machu Picchu, Mantaro, Restitución, Callahuanca, Yuncán, Cerro del Águila, Cañón del Pato, San Gabán II and Cheves. Likewise, the renewable energy increased (Eolic and solar). 
 
Nevertheless, the power generation of thermic energy in the power stations of Ventanilla, Chilca II, Fénix, Kallpa and Olleros.
 
Revenues collected by internal taxes increased by 4.0%
During November of 2023, the revenues collected by internal taxes accounted 10 thousand 341 million 140 thousand Soles, superior amount in 4.0% to the collected in the same month of 2022, encouraged by the increase of the payments related to second and fifth category income tax; as well as the value added tax.
 
Among the departments that outstood by its greater collection were Arequipa (19.3%), La Libertad (9.4%), Piura (5.9%) and Lima (3.9%), contributing together with the 93.3% from the total amount collected. Nevertheless, it reduced in San Martín (-16.3%), Amazonas (-14.9%), Lambayeque (-13.6%), Apurímac (-13.1%) and Pasco (-9.5%), among others.
