Restaurants activity registered a variation of -0.74% in November 2023

Restaurants activity (Food and Beverages Services) decreased 0.74%, determined by the lower activity of restaurants business and beverages service; nevertheless, the provision of foods by contract and other activities of foods service showed increase. Restaurants activity increased by 2.43% between January and November of 2023, compared to the same period of 2022. 
 
Restaurants area drop 1.22% before the lower influx of visitors
Restaurants group contracted by 1.22%, due to the lower influx of clients in establishments such as Pollerías (grilled chicken), meats and grills, touristic restaurants, Cevicherías (seafood restaurants), confectionaries, coffee restaurants, pizza restaurants and restaurants in general, within a context of the drop of employment and the increase of prices in a la carte dishes. Also decreased the business of international food, ice-cream shops, food from Arequipa, Creole food and Northern food.
 
Beverage service reduced 0.58%
Beverage service registered a decrease of 0.58%, due to lower volume of sales in bar-restaurants and pubs, as a consequence of the reduction of the hours of attention to the public, market competition and closure of branches.
 
Other activities of foods service increased in November
Other activities of foods service increased by 0.78%, due to the positive evolution of provision of foods for contractors (food service to transportation companies) due to the greater frequency of travels due to performance of national and international tourism and the opening of new tourist destinations. 
 
On the other hand, the food concessionaire’s activity presented a slight decrease of contracts with cement, electric, mining companies, Banks, hospitals and clinics, in attention of dining rooms at national level.
 
Catering service increased 2.36%
Provision of foods by contract (catering) grew by 2.36%, due to greater requirement of preparation and distribution of foods for special events, in attention of buffets, banquets, executive breakfasts, conferences, conventions and corporate snacks.
