Commercial activity increased 1.36% in October of 2023

The commerce sector grew 1.36% in October of 2023, compared to the same month of the last year, as a result of the evolution of wholesale commerce and retail commerce; nevertheless, the automotive commerce registered a decrease.
Between January and October of the current year, the commercial activity accumulated a progress of 2.50%.
Wholesale commerce registered a progress of 1.54%
The wholesale commerce increased 1.54%, due to the increase in the sale of other type of machinery and equipment for mining, sanitation, industry and health sectors; facilitated by the public-private tenders.
Likewise, the sale of fuels and lubricants before the greater distribution to the retail gas stations and distributors of domestic gas. With the same trend evolved the sale of agricultural raw materials and live animals such as birds and commercialization of balanced foods for animals. The non-specialized sale grew due to greater commercialization of security electronic equipment, fishing cables, conveyor belts, equipment’s of personal protection, veterinarian articles, natural products, products of industrial and domestic hygiene.
In addition, the sale of computers, peripheral equipment and computer programs showed a growth by public tenders. Likewise, the sale of other household goods such as pharmaceutical products and articles for personal care, perfumery and cosmetic articles, stationary items, office supplies and books, illumination equipment, glassware and tableware as well as cleaning products.
Nevertheless, the wholesale of construction materials and the sale of textile products, clothing items and footwear.
Retail commerce increased 1.79%
The retail commerce increased 1.79% influenced by the sale of fuels and lubricants in gas stations and self-service. In addition, the sale of new product in specialized grew due to the greater demand of electric materials, agro-chemical products, vaccines, vaccines, arms for personal security, articles of protection against fires and jewelry. Likewise, the sale of computers, peripheral units, informatics programs and telecommunication equipment.
Likewise, the sale of household appliances, furniture, illumination devices and other articles for the household grew due to the discounts and promotions. In addition, the sale of foods in specialized warehouses grew due to the demand of fruits, legumes and vegetables, dairy products, among others. A greater rotation of books and stationary items was registered. Finally, the sale of pharmaceutical and medicine products, cosmetics and personal care articles increased before the advertising campaigns and opening of new premises.
On the other hand, the sale in department stores, the sale of clothing items, footwear and leather articles and the sale in supermarkets and mini-markets.
The automotive commerce reduced by 1.84%
The automotive commerce registered a contraction of 1.84%, due to the lower commercialization of vehicles and deceleration of vehicular credit. Likewise, it contracted the sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycle and its parts, pieces and accessories; as well as the sale of parts, pieces and accessories of automotive vehicles due to lower demand in the market and increase of prices. Finally, the maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles reduced due to the decrease of retreading service and end of contract.
