Sector services provided to companies registered a decrease of 1.04%, in October 2023

In October 2023, the sector services provided to companies registered a decrease of 1.04%, compared to the same month of the last year, determined by the negative evolution of the professional, scientific and technical activities, travel agencies and tour operators and activities of administrative and support services to companies. On the other hand, the advertising and research market activity reported a growth. During the first ten months of the year, this sector registers a progress of 0.56%.

Professional, scientific and technical activities contracted by 1.62% during October before the lower dynamism in the items of architecture and engineering; this was due to the lower investment in engineering, construction projects and work fronts, reduction of public and private works, decrease of tenders, low demand of consulting and technical-commercial consultancy.

Likewise, essays and technical analysis showed a decrease in the treatment and soil, water, chemical and mineral analysis and lower inspection, analysis and certification of agricultural products. Legal activities decreased due to lower progress of judicial process, release to the market of legal studies and the lower flow of visitors for notary procedures.

On the other hand, the activities of consultancy of business management showed a growth for management services, organizational, commercial and financial strategic advising. At the same time, the accounting activities grew due to the greater contracting of accounting services, financial audits and consultancies in tax and labor regulations matters.

Travel agencies and tour operator’s area decreased by 10.85%, affected mainly by the lower demand of air tickets by tourism services, affected mainly by the lower demand of air tickets by tourism services, organization of tour packages, booking, accommodation, incentive and business travels. Likewise, the services provided by tour operators decreased by the lower organization of tour packages, full days, mountain tours, trekking and adventure travels.

Administrative and support services activities showed a variation of -0.99% due to the contraction of general cleaning of buildings, houses and offices activities, industrial machinery and end of contracts of cleaning services in commercial premises. Likewise, the rental and operational leasing activities decreased due to the end of projects, lack of work fronts, reduction of leasing contracts of machinery and specialized equipment for mining and construction sector.

The rental and operational leasing activities of automotive vehicles decreased due to the lower order of car rental for transportation of tourists, operational staff, operating and assistance personal. Likewise, the activities of temporary employment registered a fall by lower request of labor intermediation, outsourcing and no-renovation of contracts. The activities of telephone exchanges also showed a negative trend due to lower services of customer service and telemarketing.

Advertising and market research activity reported an increase of 5.63%, driven by the performance of advertising area due to the grow of digital publicity in social networks, rent of advertising panels and promotional activity by season previous to Christmas holidays, brand advertising in platforms such as streaming, sales commission by TV and radio. Nevertheless, the market research activity registered a decrease due to lower demand of marketing studies, surveys and polls.
