57.9% of the population of 18 years of age and older of the country have some account in the financial system from July to September of 2023

During the quarter July-August-September 2023, 57.9% of the population of 18 years old and older have some account in the financial system (saving account or remuneration account, fixed-term account or checking account), proportion greater in 3.9 percentage points compared with the same quarter of the year 2022 (54.0%). This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Living Conditions in Peru, prepared with the result of the National Survey of Households (ENAHO).
According to residence area, this percentage was of 62.2% in the urban area and of 38.0% in the rural area, with increases of 3.9 and 3.4 percentage points, respectively.
On the other hand, when comparing these results with the same quarter of the year 2019, it was registered an increase of 15.5 percentage points between the population of 18 years old and older that have an account in the financial system, by going from 42.4% to 57.9%. Also, reported increases in the urban area (16.2percentage points) by going from 46.0% to 62.2% and in the rural area (11.2 percentage points), by going from 26.8% to 38.0%.
Population with chronic health problem that sought medical attention grew in 7.0 percentage points
42.3% of the population with some chronic problem sought medical attention, a higher figure in 7.0 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the last year (35.3%).
By residence area, the population that sought medical attention reached 43.0% in the urban area and 38.8% in the rural area, with increases of 7.6 and 4.3 percentage points, compared with the same quarter of the year 2022.
88.9% of the population interviewed informed they have some type of health insurance
During the quarter July-August-September 2023, 88.9% of the population interviewed informed they have some type of health insurance, increasing in 2.8 percentage points, compared to the third quarter of the last year (86.1%).
By residence area, this percentage was higher in the rural area (92.8%) tan in the urban area (88.0%), with increases of 0.9 and 3.4 percentage points, compared to the third quarter of the year 2022.
From the total of the population affiliated to a health insurance, 60.3% accessed to the Comprehensive Health Insurance
From the total of population affiliated to some type of health insurance, the greater percentage is registered in the population that only access to the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), 60.3% at national level, percentage that presented an increase of 2.9 percentage points, compared to the same quarter of the last year.
In addition, increases were registered in the urban and rural area, in 3.3 and 1.1 percentage points, by going from 50.6% to 53.9% and from 85.1% to 86.2%, respectively.
84.3% of the households of the country with some beneficiary member of some feeding program accessed to “Qali Warma” School Breakfasts
During the third quarter of this year, 84.3% of the households of the country with some beneficiary member of some feeding program accessed to “Qali Warma” School Breakfasts, it means, 2.8 percentage points more than the same quarter of the last year (81.5%).
In the urban area this benefit reached 82.4% and in the rural area reached 89.0%, with increases of 2.8 percentage points, for both cases, compared to the same quarter of the last year.
18.2% of the households of the country have a bicycle
During the quarter July-August-September of the year 2023, 18.2% of the households of the country have a bicycle. Likewise, 14.2% have a car/truck, 13.1% a motorcycle and 7.9% have a moto-taxi.
Comparing these figures with the same quarter of the year 2022, the greater increase was registered in the possession of motorcycles, that increased at national level and in the urban area in 1.7 puntos percentage points, in each case, by going from 11.4% to 13.1% and from 9.8% to 11.5%, respectively. In lower proportion increased in the rural area in 1.0 percentage points, by going from 17.5% to 18.5%.
