Traffic flow of vehicles at national level reported a slight increase of 0.9% in October of 2023

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), informed that during the month of October of 2023, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow the one that reports the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through the tollbooths of the country slightly increased in 0.9%, compared to the same month of 2022.
In the technical report, Vehicular Flow by Tollbooths indicates that the monthly result was influenced by the greater traffic flow of light-duty units (5.5%); nevertheless, this result was attenuated by the lower traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles (-4.8%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles at national level reduced by 4.8%
During the month of October of 2023, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths of the country, decreased by 4.8% compared with the same month of 2022. This behavior was influenced by the lower production of the Construction, Agricultural and Manufacturing sectors associated to the reduction of the private investment and the effects of the weather phenomena that prevented the regular traffic of vehicles of heavy-duty cargo.
The tollbooths with lower movement were, to the north, La Libertad (Virú -19.2%, Pacanguilla -8.8% and Chicama -7.3%), Piura (Chulucanas -12.4% and Piura-Sullana -7.5%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará -8.2%), Áncash (Huarmey -7.8%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos -4.0%).
In the center, Junín (Casaracra -8.6%) and Lima (Fortaleza -7.0%, Corcona -5.8%, El Paraíso -5.0%, Serpentine of Pasamayo -4.2% and Variant of Pasamayo -2.8%); and in the south, Puno (Santa Lucía -11.4%), Arequipa (Patahuasi -8.5%), Moquegua (Ilo -5.9%), Ica (Marcona -5.2% and Jahuay Chincha -1.5%) and Apurímac (Pichirhua -1.1%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for cargo of 3 to 7 axle decreased 3.4%
During October of 2023, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles for cargo of 3 to 7 axle, decreased 3.4% compared to the same month of the last year, due to the lower traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles such as trailers, semitrailers and heavy-duty trucks of 3 axle (-1.6%), 4 axle (-5.5%), 5 axle (-2.5%) and 6 axle (-4.4%); nevertheless, the traffic flow of vehicles of 7 axle increased (5.9%).
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles increased 5.5%
During the month of October of the current year, the traffic flow of light-duty vehicles registered through the tollbooths across the country increased 5.5% compared to the same month of 2022. This result was influenced by the greater displacement of persons across the country to participate in the religious festivity of El Señor de los Milagros; as well as the long holiday due to the anniversary of The Combate de Angamos, which encouraged the activities of Commerce, accommodation, associated to the domestic tourism.
The tollbooths that reported greater traffic flow were, to the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 108.5%) and Piura (Chulucanas 0.5%); and in the center Lima (Variant of Pasamayo 1.8%). On the other hand, it decreased in the south, in Arequipa (Patahuasi -22.3%, Matarani-Concesión -3.4% and Uchumayo-Concesión -1.3%), Puno (Santa Lucía -17.8%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuéllar -11.3% and Ilo -6.5%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha -8.8% and Marcona -1.8%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera -7.4%) and Apurímac (Pichirhua -2.5%).
