More than 3 million 400 thousand Peruvians migrated abroad in the last 33 years

On the occasion International Migrant’s Day that is commemorated this December 18, and according to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that, 3 million 490 thousand 519 persons would be living abroad, figure that represents the 10.5% of the total population of the country of the year 2022 (33 million 396 thousand 698). According to sex, 52.0% (1 million 816 thousand 213) are women and 48.0% are men (1 million 674 thousand 306).
69.4% of Peruvians that migrate abroad were between 15 to 49 years old
According to age groups from the Peruvian population that migrated other countries, 69.4% were between 15 to 49 years old. Meanwhile, the migrant population under 15 years of age represented the 11.8%, those that were 50 to 59 years of age represented the 10.3% and the adults older than 60 years of age and older represented the 8.4%.
64 out of 100 Peruvians that left the country were single
According to civil state from the population that left the country, 64.3% of the international Peruvian emigrants that are 14 years old and over, are single, meanwhile the 18.4% declared to be married, 0.7% divorced, 0.5% widows, and 16.1% did not specified their civil state.
By sex and civil state of Peruvians that left the country, in women, 61.9% declared to be single, the 20.2% were married, the 0.9% divorced and widows, in each case. Among men, the 66.9% manifested to be single, 5.0 percentage points more than women, the 16.4% were married, being 3.8 percentage points lower than women. Meanwhile, 16.1% of women and 16.0% of men did not specified their marital or civil status.
United States of America is the first country of residence of Peruvian that migrate

15.5% of Peruvian professional migrants are professors
From the total of Peruvian professionals that emigrate other countries, 15.5% are teachers, 14.1% engineers, 10.6% business administrators, 7.3% nurses and 5.9% accountants, which reached the 53.4% of Peruvian professional that left the country.
During the period 2010-2022 more than 216 thousand Peruvians return to the country
According to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration, during the period 2010-2022 a total of 216 thousand 808 Peruvians return to the country and had not left again abroad. More than 1 million 300 thousand foreigners live in Peru
According to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration, the number of foreigners that would be living for more than a year in our country, as of September of the year 2023, totalized 1 million 354 thousand 891 foreigners, being the highest percentages of income of resident foreigners during the years 2018 and 2019, with 35.2% and 26.2%, respectively. From the total of foreigners that live in our country, 53.8% are men (728 thousand 538) and 46.2% are women (626 thousand 353).
By age it was registered that the predominant proportion of age is that one that goes from 20 to 24 years old with 17.0% of the total immigrant foreigners and of the group of 25 to 29 years old that reached the 16.7%, followed by the group of 30 to 34 years of age with 12.5%, the group of 35 to 39 years of age with 9.0%. It should be pointed out that it should be noted that 74.9% of the total immigrant foreigners were between 15 to 49 years of age, during the period under study.
86.0% of the foreigners that live in Peru are Venezuelan
The population of foreigners that permanently live in Peru as of the year 2023, by nationality is composed in the first place by Venezuelan population (1 million 161 thousand 482) that represented the 85.7%, followed by the Colombian population with 3.8% (51 thousand 964), Ecuadorian population with 1.2% (15 thousand 655), American population 1.0% (14 thousand 101), Spaniard with 1.0% (13 thousand 804), Argentinian 0.8% (11 thousand 444), Chilean 0.8% (11 thousand 313), Brazilian 0.8% (10 thousand 460), Chinese 0.7% (10 thousand 1), Bolivian with 0.6% (8 thousand 730), 0.4% had Mexican nationality (5 thousand 845), while those with Italian nationality represent the 0.3% (3 thousand 860), among the most relevant.
It is important to mention that according to the figures of the National Superintendence of Migrations, the number of foreigners with a valid Alien Registration Certificate totalized 249 thousand 963. The greater proportion of these citizens with Alien Registration Certificates issued, corresponds to the Venezuelan nationality, representing the 81.8%, followed by those with Colombian nationality with 6.0%, Chinese 1.3%, Ecuadorian with 1.2%, American 0.9%, Argentinian, Spaniard, Bolivians, Brazilians, and Chileans, each one with 0.8%, among the most representative nationalities.
Immigrant Venezuelan population in Peru reach 1 million 161 thousand 482 persons
According to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migration, the number of Venezuelan that registered their enter and not their exit until the year 2023, totalized 1 million 161 thousand 482 foreigners.
