The attendance of women in all education levels increases

In the third quarter of 2023 and according to the result of the National Household Survey (ENAHO), 92.7% of girls and 89.9% of boys of 3 to 5 years of age, attended pre-school education level, being greater the attendance of girls in 2.8 percentage points compared to boys.
Compared to the same quarter of the year 2022, the attendance of girls and boys to elementary education level grew 2.3 and 1.5 percentage points, respectively, this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Statistics with a Gender Approach. Meanwhile, the attendance of girls to pre-school education level increased in 2.1 percentage points; meanwhile the attendance of boys decreased in 1.0 percentage point.
The attendance rate to high school education level of women adolescents was of 87.5% and that of men reached 86.4%; which compared to the same quarter of the year 2022, the attendance of men increased in 1.3 percentage points and that of women in 0.9 percentage point.
More women than men of 15 years of age and older have chronic health problems
In the third quarter under analysis, according to age groups, men under 15 years of age had chronic diseases (17.5%) in greater proportion than women (16.0%); nevertheless, women of 15 years of age and over declared they had some chronic health problem in greater proportion than men. Therefore, it was registered that the 44.3% of women and 34.1% of men of 15 to 49 years of age had some chronic disease, with a difference of 10.2 percentage points between them. In addition, men and wo men of 50 to 59 years of age had a chronic disease in 73.8% and 60.0%, respectively, with a difference of 13.8 percentage points and finally women of 60 years of age and over had chronic health problems (85.9%) in greater proportion than men (75.1%).
The search of medical attention of women and men with health problems increases
The ENAHO results of the third quarter showed that 45.6% of women and 38.3% of men affected with some chronic health problem sought medical attention. Con relación a igual periodo de 2022, la proporción de mujeres (37,6%) que buscó atención aumentó en 8,0 puntos porcentuales y la proporción de los hombres (32,4%) fue mayor en 5,9 puntos porcentuales.
Women and men with university superior education level used the Internet with greater proportion
The period under analysis of the ENAHO results revealed that the 98.3% of women and the 97.9% of men with university education level used the Internet; meanwhile, the proportion of women and men with non-university superior education level reached the 96.9% and 966%, respectively. Meanwhile, in the other education levels, the proportion of access to the Internet was lower.
Most women and men use the Internet for communicating
During the period July-August-September of 2023, of women of 6 years old and older use the Internet, 92.2% use it to communicate, 89.8% for entertaining, 80.8% to get information and 24.4% for operations in electronic banking and other financial services, among the main reasons. Meanwhile, in men, 92.2% used the Internet to communicate and for entertainment activities, 81.6% to get information and 26.7% for operations in electronic banking, among other reasons.
More women than men work in Service and Commerce activities
According with the Permanent Survey of National Employment (EPEN) of the third quarter of 2023, most women that work do it in Services (45.2%) and Commerce (25.9%) activities, representing the 71.1%; meanwhile, men that work in these activities reached 53.5%. In Agriculture/Fishing/Mining works 20.9% of women and 26.1% of men; meanwhile in Manufacturing works 7.4% and 8.7% of women and men, respectively. In Construction works 11.7% of men and just 0.6% of women.
Most men than women have savings or checking account
In the third quarter of the year 2023, 59.7% of men and 56.1% of women of 18 years old and older have savings or checking account. Compared to the same quarter of 2022, the proportion of men and women that have a savings account grew in 4.0 and 3.7 percentage points, respectively.
