In September 2023, the commerce sector registered a growth of 1.89%, compared to the same month of the last year, determined by the evolution of the wholesale commerce, the retail commerce and the automotive commerce, within the continuity of the economic activities.
During the first nine months of the year, the commercial activity achieved a significant progress of 2.64%.
In the ninth month of 2023, the wholesale commerce increased 1.98%
The wholesale commerce registered an increase of 1.98%, based in the sale of machinery and equipment for mining, construction, industry and health. It also increased the sale of solid, liquid, gaseous fuels and allied products before the greater sale to gas stations and retail services; the public-private tenders drove the sale of computers, peripheral equipment and computer programs. The same trend showed the sale of telecommunications electronic equipment and its parts due to the greater distribution of telephonic and communications equipment (smartphones, radio equipment). In addition, the sale of other household goods such as pharmaceutical and medicine products, perfumery, cosmetics and personal care, tableware and glassware and stationary items and books, grew. Likewise, the non-specialized sale grew due to the commercialization of audio and security video equipment, biological and pharmacological products for animal health and natural products. Nevertheless, the wholesale of construction materials and the sale of waste, scrap and chemical products, decreased.
The retail sale registers an increase of 2.15%
The Retail sale increased by 2.15% in September 2023 was influenced mainly by the sale of fuels and lubricants for automotive vehicles in gas stations and self-services premises. Likewise, new sale points; sale of computers, peripheral units, informatics programs and telecommunications equipment grew before the renewal of equipment, the sale of new products in specialized warehouses registered a progress, among them the agro-veterinarian progress, security articles, optical products, slot and costume jewelry. In addition, the sale of pharmaceutical, medicine, cosmetic and toiletries products increased due to a greater diversification of products and advertising, the sale of household appliances, furniture, illumination devices and other articles for the household registered an increasing trend due to discounts on the Shopping Day 2023. Likewise, a greater rotation of articles and sport accessories in specialized warehouses.
Also, continued the growth in the sale by mail order and by Internet before a greater advertising in the web platforms. On the other hand, the sale in department stores, supermarkets and minimarkets and the sale of hardware retailing, paints and glass products, decreased.

Automotive commerce increased by 0.37%
The automotive commerce registered a growth of 0.37%, due to a greater commercialization of heavy-duty vehicles (trucks) in public-private tenders, linked to commercial strategies. Likewise, the sale of parts, pieces and accessories of automotive vehicles grew due to a greater commercialization of spares, filters and pneumatics. The maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles increased due to repairs and opening of premises.
On the other hand, the sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and its parts pieces and accessories contracted.
