Traffic flow of heavy vehicle at national level reduced by 1.7% in July of 2023

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of July of 2023, the traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles reported by the tollbooths at national level decreased by 1.7% compared to the same month of 2022. These results are explained by the low demand of the cargo transport service for the Construction, Agricultural and Manufacturing sectors.
In the technical report, Vehicular Flow by Toll Booths indicates that the tollbooths with lower traffic flow were at the north, Piura (Loma Larga Baja -83.6%), La Libertad (Pacanguilla -11.5%, Virú -10.9% and Chicama -7.8%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará -10.2%), Áncash (Huarmey -7.3%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos -3.4%).
Likewise, in the south Puno (Santa Lucía -41.5%), Moquegua (Pampa Cuellar -4.0%), Ayacucho (Pampa Galera -3.5%), Ica (Jahuay Chincha -2.7%) and Apurímac (Pichirhua -1.9%); an in the center, Junín (Casaracra -8.9%) and Lima (Fortaleza -7.9%, El Paraíso -7.2%, Serpentine of Pasamayo -4.1% and Corcona -3.4%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles of 3 to 7 axle decreased by 1.3%
In July of 2023, the traffic flow of heavy-duty units of 3 to 7 axle reduced by 1.3% compared to the same month of 2022, due to the lower traffic flow of heavy-duty cargo vehicles such as trailers, semi-trailers and trucks of 4 axle (-0.9%), 5 axle (-1.8%) and 6 axle (-2.8%). Nevertheless, the traffic flow of vehicles 3 axle (1.1%) and 7 axle (5.2%) increased.
Traffic flow of vehicles at national level increased by 2.8%
During the month under analysis, the National Rate of Vehicular Flow that registered the movement of light-duty and heavy-duty units through tollbooths of the country increased 2.8% compared to the month of July of 2022, determined by the greater traffic flow of light-duty vehicles (5.8%), mitigated by the lower movement of heavy-duty units (-1.7%).
Traffic flow of light-duty vehicles grew 5.8%
During July of 2023, the traffic flow of light-duty units registered through the toll booths of the country increased 5.8% compared with the same month of 2022. This result is based in the greater movement of people and vehicles at national level, associated to the celebrations for National Holidays and the long holidays that boost the commercial, accommodation and restaurants activities; as well in entertainment facilities.
The tollbooths with significant traffic flow were, at the north, San Martín (Moyobamba 59.4%), Piura (Chulucanas 10.1%, Paita 6.0% and Piura Sullana 2.8%), La Libertad (Virú 3.9% and Chicama 1.6%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 2.7%); in the south, Arequipa (Matarani-Concesión 15.5% and Uchumayo-Concesión 12.6%), Ica (Marcona 5.9% and Jahuay Chincha 0.4%) and Moquegua (Ilo 1.4%); and in the center, Lima (Variant of Pasamayo 5.5% and El Paraíso 2.5%).
