In July of 2023, the commercial activity grew 3.01%

The commercial sector in July of 2023 reached a growth of 3.01%, compared to the same month of the last year, due to the positive evolution of the wholesale commerce, retail commerce and automotive commerce, within a continuity of the economic activities; this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and informatics (INEI). Likewise, it informed that between January and July of 2023, this sector accumulated a growth of 2.73%.
The wholesale commerce increased by 2.83%
The wholesale commerce grew in 2.83%, due to the increase in the sale of solid, liquid gas fuels and related products before the demand of fuels and lubricants from the gas station of retail sale. Likewise, the sale of other type of machinery and equipment for mining, industry (spare parts, wheel loaders, forklift, bearings, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment) and health (medical devices), increased. In the same way, the sale of natural products, biological and pharmaceutical products, electronic security and firefighting equipment and cleaning products grew.
Other line with good performance was the computer sale, peripheral equipment and informatics programs due to technology equipment offers and software. Also increased the sale of other household goods such as pharmaceutical and medicinal products, perfumery, cosmetics and personal care products, white goods and toys, with promotions for National Holidays, as well as the sale of books and magazines due to the Book Fair.
Nevertheless, in July decreased the sale of foods, beverages and tobacco the sale of agricultural raw and of live animals and the wholesale of construction materials.
The retail commerce increased by 3.58%
The retail commerce increased by 3.58%, explained by the sale of fuels and lubricants for automotive vehicles in small shops and gas stations, in line with the growth of the vehicle fleet. Likewise, the other sale of new products in specialized warehouses grew due to the demand of agricultural inputs, pesticide, insecticide, agricultural-veterinary products, binoculars and optical products.
In the same way, the sale of pharmaceutical and medicinal products, cosmetics and toiletries increased by new presentations, discounts and advertising campaigns. It followed the same trend, the sale of computers, peripheral units, computer programs and telecommunication due to the renewal equipment, data update and maintenance.
Likewise, the sale of video games and toys increased in response to competitive prices and discounts by season. The sale of sporting goods in specialized warehouses reported an increase due to the turnover of stock items and sport accessories as well as the sale in the vending machines of snacks and beverages.
In contrast, the sale in department stores, the sale in department stores; the retail sale of household appliances, furniture, lighting equipment and other household items; and the sale in supermarkets and mini-markets.
Automotive commerce grew by 2.61%
The automotive commerce registered an increase of 2.61%, due to the greater commercialization of light-duty vehicles (trucks, pick-up, vans, sport vehicles and off-road vehicles) and heavy-duty vehicles (minibus, omnibus and truck-tractors), with support of fairs such as Expo motor and other sales strategies. Likewise, the sale of parts, pieces and accessories of automotive vehicle due to greater demand of spare parts and bearings and repair of automotive vehicles.
On the other hand, the sale, maintenance and repair of motorcycles and its parts, pieces and accessories, contracted.
