Fishing production decreased by 47.94%
The Fishing sector contracted by 47.94% due to the lower extraction of species of marine origin (-54.73%), reflected in the capture for indirect human consumption (landing of anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil), that increased to 43 tons, and against the 438,032 tons of July 2022, that shows a reduction of 437,989 tons.
In July of 2022, the anchovy capture corresponded to the last month of the first fishing season displayed in the north-center zone of the Peruvian coastline; while that during the month under analysis, continued the suspension of the capture of this resource.
On the other hand, the fishing for direct human consumption showed a growth of 16.54% due to the greater extraction in the line items destined to the preparation of canned (97.15%), frozen (22.03%) and for the consumption in fresh state (10.74%).
In addition, the continental origin fishing contracted in 1.73% due to a lower capture of species for frozen and for preparation of curing.
Power generation increased 3.76%
Through preliminary figures, in August of the current year, the power generation increased 3.76%, explained by the greater production of thermoelectric origin (17.9%) and of renewable energies (5.5%). Nevertheless, the production of hydroelectric origin (-14.6%) decreased.
According to companies, it outstood the production of Enel Generación Perú, Engie, Termoselva, Sudamericana de Energía Piura, Sindicato Energético (Sinersa), Enel Generación Piura, Celepsa, Fenix Power Perú and Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Machu Picchu (Egemsa).
The domestic cement consumption reduced by 6.10%
During July of 2023, the domestic cement consumption decreased by 6.10% compared to the month of July 2022 accumulating 11 months of unfavorable behavior due to the lower progress of private works and self-construction.
