Eight departments decreased the coffee production in June of 2023

The National Institute of Statistic and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report “Peru: Departmental Economic Outlook”, during June of 2023, the coffee production reduced in the departments of La Libertad (-69.8%), Lambayeque (-56.9%), Ayacucho (-23.6%), Ucayali (-21.3%), Pasco (-11.3%), Amazonas (-9.8%), Piura (-3.6%) and Cusco (-0.8%).
Meanwhile, coffee growing areas showed positive behavior placed in San Martín (8.6%), Huánuco (1.8%), Cajamarca (1.8%), Junín (0.9%) and Puno (0.1%).
At national level, the production of this grain totalized 82 thousand 734 tons, a figure lower in 1.9% compared to the same month of the last year (84 thousand 308 tons). This result was because of the adverse weather conditions, reflected in the increased rainfall that caused the presence of fungus disease such as the yellow rust.
In nine departments grew the potato production
The potato production increased in the departments of Puno (139.9%), Piura (85.2%), Arequipa (39.7%), Huancavelica (25.8%), La Libertad (23.1%), Apurímac (16.5%), Ancash (16.2%), Tacna (8.2%) and Huánuco (7.0%). Nevertheless, it reduced in Ica (-99.6%), Lima (-41.6%), Amazonas (-30.4%), Cusco (-19.6%), Cajamarca (-7.3%), Junín (-6.8%), Ayacucho (-6.0%), Pasco (-5.5%) and Moquegua (-5.4%).
In the country, the production of this tuber increased to 819 thousand 987 tons, higher volume in 8.3% compared to June of 2022 (757 thousand 233 tons), explained by the increase of the harvested area, in addition, of the normal vegetative development of the crop.
In 23 departments reduced the poultry production
During June of 2023, the poultry production decreased in 23 departments, mainly in the production areas of Arequipa (-7.9%), La Libertad (-5.3%), San Martín (-5.0%), Ancash (-3.6%) and Ica (-1.4%).
Nevertheless, grew in the department of Lima (2.8%) that concentrated the 56.1% of the total of the poultry production, before the greater placement of BB chickens of the meat line.
The poultry production, at national level, contracted by 0.8% compared to the same month of the last year, determined by the reduced chicken production, as a consequence of the negative effect of the bird flu and elevated costs of food supplies.
Five departments contributed with the 61.6% of the total copper production
The volume of total copper extraction outstood mainly in Moquegua registering a growth of 203.7%, followed by Apurímac (62.8%), Arequipa (14.2%), Tacna (14.1%) and Cusco (13.1%), which together contributed with the 61.6% of the national production.
Meanwhile, it decreased in Cajamarca (-32.6%), Ayacucho (-19.3%), Junín (-10.9%), Ica (-8.6%) and Ancash (-3.5%).
In the country, the copper production increased by 22.7% compared to June of 2022, influenced by the contribution of the company Anglo American Quellaveco; as well as, the greater extraction in Minera Las Bambas, Cerro Verde, Minera Antapaccay, Sociedad Minera El Brocal and Southern Perú Copper Corporation.
Three departments concentrated the 65.9% of the total electricity production
The electricity production, in June of the current year, increased in Moquegua (132.2%), Ica (42.8%) and Lima (20.0%), concentrating the 65.9% of the total generation; meanwhile, it decreased in Pasco (-36.5%), Amazonas (-31.7%), Huancavelica (-28.7%), Apurímac (-27.8%) and Cusco (-26.1%), among others.
At national level, the production of electric energy increased by 4.5% explained by the greater generation of thermic origin energy in the power stations of Kallpa, Santa Rosa II, Chilca I, Olleros and Las Flores. Likewise, contributed the greater generation of non-conventional renewable energy (Eolic and solar); nevertheless, the production of hydraulic energy was affected by the lower generation in the power stations of Mantaro, Cerro del Águila, Restitución, Machupicchu, Chaglla, El Platanal and Charcani V.
Collected Revenues by Internal Taxes reduced in 12 departments
The collected revenues by internal taxes, in June of 2023, registered 9 thousand 260 million 631 thousand Soles and decreased by 4.5% compared to the same month of the last year, based in the lower collection of the income tax.
Among the 12 departments that registered negative variations, are Arequipa (-28.5%), Lima (-4.5%) and Piura (-3.0%), in spite of this they contributed with the 90.9% of the total collection. In addition, decreased in Ancash (-29.5%), Loreto (-14.9%), Moquegua (-13.0%), Ucayali (-11.4%), Madre de Dios (-10.3%), Ica (-9.9%), Junín (-9.6%), San Martín (-8.2%) and Tacna (-3.2%). Nevertheless, it increased in Pasco (112.9%), Puno (38.3%), Apurímac (37.8%), Huancavelica (36.4%), La Libertad (24.0%) and Cusco (11.1%), among others.
