Restaurants activity increased 3.02% in June of this year

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that in June of 2023, the restaurants activity grew by 3.02%, compared to the same month of the last year, determining by the dynamism of three of its four components. During the first semester of this year, the mentioned activity presented a progress of 5.53% compared with the same period of the year 2022.
The Group of Restaurants grew by 3.76%
The group of restaurants showed a variation of 3.76% explained by the greater volume of sales in the following business, Pollerías (grilled chicken), fast foods, Chifas (Chinese restaurants), restaurants, Cevicherías (seafood), sandwich restaurants, meats, and grills. As a result of continuous improvements in advertising and promotions by social networks, the increasing trend of the digital service, marketing by SMS (text messages), business partnership with agency banks and of telephony.
Also, showed an increasing trend the Chinese food, ice-cream shops, Creole food, coffee restaurants, Italian food, confectioners and Japanese food, accordingly with the customer loyalty, opening of branches and organization of live musical events.
Likewise, contributed the celebrations of the Father’s Day, Day of the Peruvian Pork Crackling, Saint Peter & Saint Paul Day, Feast of Saint John in all the Peruvian Jungle and the Feast of Inti Raymi. As well as the implementation of gastronomic fairs such as “Festi Produce: National Day of the Ceviche” in Lima and “Gastronomic Festival of Fruits of the Sea” in Catacaos – Piura, among others.
Beverage service increased by 6.40%
The beverage service reported a progress of 6.40% due to the increase of the demand in juice shops, coffee shops, bars and discos, in response of the variety of Creole, Marine and Fusion snacks, new beverage menu, special deals in chilcanos and happy hours. As well as the implementation of live concerts and homage, renovation and expansion of terraces and ballrooms, extension of opening hours and advertising campaigns through mass media.
Catering supplying increased by 22.99%
The catering supplying increased by 22.99%, driven by the requirement of preparation and distribution of foods for events and with the expansion of the client portfolio for the attention of coffee breaks, business anniversaries, buffet in general, brand activations and trademark launching, weddings and baptisms.
Other activities of food service decreased by 2.84%
In June of 2023, other activities of food service contracted by 2.84%, due to the decrease in the activity of food concessionaires; while the food supply for contractors (food service to air and land transportation companies) associated due to the increase of travels and long holiday to promote the domestic tourism.
