Production of Electricity subsector grew 3.19% in July of 2023

According to preliminary figures, as of July 26 of this year, the production of electricity subsector increased by 3.19%, due to the greater generation of energy of thermoelectric origin (19.3%) and of renewable energies (13.9%); nevertheless, it decreased the energy of hydroelectric origin (-18.3%). This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and informatics (INEI) in the technical report Conjuncture Progress of the Economic Activity.
Among the companies that outstood for its production are Enel Generación Perú, Empresa de Generación Eléctrica Machupicchu (Egemsa), Engie, Sudamericana de Energía Piura, Kallpa Generación, Enel Generación Piura, Fenix Power Perú, Empresa de Generación Huanza and Orazul Energy Perú.
Domestic cement consumption reduced by 10.58%
During June of 2023, the domestic cement consumption decreased by 10.58%, compared to the same month of the last year and added ten months of negative result, as a result of the lower advancement of private and self-construction works.
Fishing sector decreased by 68.93%
The Fishing sector reduced by 68.93% due to the lower extraction of marine origin species (-74.53%), due to the lower landing of species intended for indirect human consumption (capture of anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil), getting 41,535 tons, compare to the 927,638 tons reported in June of 2022.
It is worth to mention that in June of the last year, the fishing season of anchovy performed in the north-center and south zone of the country. Meanwhile, in June of this year, the extraction belongs to the exploratory fishing of five (5) days in the north-center zone, in which it was corroborated the presence of juvenile species, which result in the fishing cancelation of this resource.
Likewise, the fishing for direct human consumption reduced by 17.55%, due to the lower landing of species intended for the preparation of curing (-66.1%), frozen (-20.5%), fresh state consumption (-11.4%) and for the preparation of canning (-0.8%). On the other hand, the fishing of continental origin grew by 7.46% due to greater extraction of species in fresh state.
General Government Investment Spending increased by15.56%
The General Government Investment Spending (S/4,133 million) increased by 15.56% compared to the month of June of 2022, as a result of the greater investment in public construction in the areas of national and regional government; as well as the greater investment in machinery, equipment and others, in the three levels of the government.
Likewise, the General Government Consumption Expenditure, in nominal terms, amounted S/ 10,484 million, registering an increase of 20.81%, compared with the same month of the last year.
Collection of the Value Added Tax (IGV) increased by 3.49%
The collection of Value Added Tax (IGV) increased by 3.49% and totalized 3,809 million of Soles. Followed by the Selective Excise Tax (ISC) that grew by 20.18% and reached 485 million of Soles.
Meanwhile, Customs Duties reduced by 11.04%, compared to June of the last year and amounted 3,110 million of Soles.
Total imported amount decreased by 20.48%
With information available as of July 25 of this year, during the last month of June, the total imported amount was of US$ 4,259 million and contracted by 20.48% compared with the value registered in June of 2022.
In this context, the import of consumption goods placed in US$ 1,008 million, reducing in 0.32%. The purchase of raw materials and intermediate products amounted US$ 2,041 million and decreased by 34.87%. The acquisition of capital goods and construction materials amounted US$ 1,210 million, decreased by 0.08%, compared to the value registered in June of 2022.
