Four departments had contributed with 66.3% of the total grape production in April of 2023

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) through the technical report Peru: Departmental Economic Outlook. During April of this year, grape production increased in the departments of Lima (99.2%), Piura (75.0%), Arequipa (70.8%) and Moquegua (51.0%), which together they made the 66.3% of the total cultivated area.
This result was explained by the good thermic conditions registered that favored the development of this crop; in addition, that it registers a high external demand. While, the volumes obtained in Ancash (-39.9%), Tacna (-39.0%), Ica (-36.0%) and La Libertad (-9.8%).
At national level, grape production reached 33 thousand 407 tons, registering a growth of 19.6% compared with the same month of the last year.
Poultry production decreased in 22 departments
The lower placements of BB chickens and fattening turkey affected the poultry production which mainly influence in the performance registered in the production areas of Arequipa (-9.5%) and La Libertad (-6.5%), among the main ones. Due to the negative effect caused by the avian flu and the elevated input costs for feeding the birds, such as soy and hard yellow corn.
Nevertheless, the poultry production grew in the departments of Lima (2.6%), main producer that reached a participation of 54.2% compared to the national total; also increased in Ica (0.6%). At national level, the poultry production decreased by 1.3%.
Copper production in six departments concentrates the 69.8% of the national production
The copper production increased mainly in the mines located in the departments of Moquegua (911.8%), Apurimac (58.9%), Ica (37.2%), Tacna (27.0%), Cusco (6.8%) and Arequipa (5.0%), that together concentrated the 69.8% of the total production.
Copper production of the country (at national level), was higher in 31.4% compared with the same month of the last year. This was due to the contribution of the Company Anglo American Quellaveco (that reports operation since September of 2022), added to the base effect registered in the Cuajone mine of Southern Perú Copper Corporation that resumed its production in April 23 of 2022 before the transportation blocking by railway. In addition, it added the work stoppage of activities of the Mine Las Bambas since April 20 of 2022, before the conflicts that happened with the peasant communities.
Likewise, the extraction of this mineral increased in Minera Shouxin Perú, Marcobre, Minera Antapaccay and Cerro Verde while the volumes obtained of copper decreased in Minera Chinalco Perú, Antamina and Hudbay Perú.
Five departments contributed with the 59.0% of the total electricity production
In April of the year 2023, the departments that most contributed with the progress of the electricity subsector were Lima (28.0%), Ica (20.7%), Moquegua (11.8%), Huanuco (5.7%) and Cusco (2.4%), that together participated with the 59.0% of the total generated. Nevertheless, decreased in Lambayeque (-39.0%), Madre de Dios (-36.2%), Amazonas (-29.6%), Ancash (-27.4%) and Tacna (-21.1%), among others.
Across the country, electric energy production grew by 8.4% compared with the month of April of 2022, compared to the month of April of 2022, driven by the greater generation of thermic origin energy in the power stations of Ventanilla, Chilca I, Kallpa, Las Flores and Olleros; likewise, the generation of Eolic energy increased.
On the other hand, the generation of hydraulic energy in the power stations of Charcani V, Restitución, Chimay, Huinco, Yuncan, Matucana, Cañón del Pato and Cerro del Águila decreased. Likewise, the production of solar energy decreased.
Collected Revenue by Internal Taxes decreased by 20.0%
During the fourth month of the year 2023, the revenue received by internal taxes totalized 15 thousand 708 million 962 thousand of Soles, an inferior amount in 20.0% compared to that amount reported in April of 2022 (19 thousand 647 million 432 mil soles), as a result of lower payments obtained in the income tax area.
Among the 20 departments that registered lower collection of taxes, lower taxes raising basically contributed Cusco (-74.3%), Ica (-36.8%), La Libertad (-25.5%), Arequipa (-24.5%) and Lima (-19.6%); nevertheless, together accounted the 93.4% of the total collected. In addition, in Ancash (-40.7%), Tumbes (-39.3%), Lambayeque (-37.3%), Cajamarca (-28.4%) and Moquegua (-18.3%), among others it decreased.

On the other hand, the collection of taxes increased in Piura (52.2%), Puno (26.9%), Ucayali (4.0%) and Huanuco (1.4%).
