INEI with the support of the MIDAGRI executes the National Agricultural Survey (ENA) 2023

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), perform since 8 June till October of 2023, the National Agricultural Survey (ENA) 2023. This survey will be used to generate information for construction of agricultural sector indicators and for the assessment in the framework of Budgeting by Results. Which allow to measure in a continuous way the evolution of the mentioned indicators and to contribute to the design and for orienting public policies for the improvement of living conditions of the small and medium agricultural producers; as well as general population.

This research will provide statistical information that will allow to characterize the small, medium and big agricultural units of the country. In addition, the characteristics of the agricultural producers and agricultural units at national level will be identified, considering uses of the lands, crops sown and harvested in the agricultural unit; in addition to the good agricultural practices.

The data collection will be in charge of 400 INEI staff members appropriately identified, who will interview a simple of 56 thousand agricultural producers, of the most of 2 million that are in the national territory. This research will be conducted in the 24 departments of Peru, including the Constitutional Province of Callao.

This survey will be useful to know the agricultural production levels and its good practices, the agricultural extension service, associativity, financial services, production costs of the agricultural activity, characteristics of agricultural producer and its family, intention of sowing, machinery and equipment of the agricultural unit. All this data will allow strengthening and evaluating the generation of indicators of the National Agricultural Policy (Supreme Decree N º 017-2021-MIDAGRI), the National Plan of Livestock Development (Ministerial Resolution N º 0297-2017-MINAGRI), Budgeting Programs and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The ENA 2023 presents innovations, such as, a standardized questionnaire that includes the questions approved by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, and in addition, the parcels and lots will be digitalized, with the help of a drawing module included in the survey. Likewise, this module will be useful for the location of field personnel, it means, the personnel will know if they are within the segment.

La ENA 2023 levantará información referida a las características de la unidad agropecuaria, producción y buenas prácticas de la actividad agrícola y pecuaria; características del productor agropecuario y su familia, y características de la unidad agropecuaria al día de la entrevista; entre otros temas.

For the purpose of carrying out the National Agricultural Survey (ENA) 2023 in a standardized manner that at the time allows the strengthen of the Probabilistic Statistical System in the agricultural sector, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) and the Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation, signed an agreement of inter-institutional cooperation.

The signing of the document was in charge of the Chief of the INEI, Mr. Dante Carhuavilca Bonett, the vice-minister of Politics and Monitoring of Agricultural Development, Mr. Segundo Regalado Gamonal and the vice-minister of the Development of Family Farming and Agricultural and Irrigation Infrastructure, Mr. Christian Barrantes Bravo.
