The majority of women and men with health problems consult in pharmacies

In the first quarter of 2023 and according with the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO), 16.3% of women and 17.8% of men with health problems make a medical consultation in a pharmacy, compared with the same period of 2022, the proportion of women and men decreased by 0.6 and 0.3 percentage point, respectively.
According with the technical report Statistic with Gender Perspective, prepared by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), women and men with health problems that attend the Ministry of Health (MINSA) health center reached 12.9% and 10.0%, respectively. In the case of ESSALUD hospitals, the attendance was 4.8% of women and 4.4% of men; and in a private health center, the attendance was 5.6% and 5.1% of women and men, respectively.
More women than men had a chronic health problem
45.0% of women informed they have some chronic health problem (disease or discomfort), while in the case of men this proportion represented the 35.9%, lower result in 9.1 percentage points compared to that of women. Compared with the same period of 2022, women and men with some chronic health problem increased by 1.6 and 1.0 percentage point, respectively.
More female-headed households of the urban area were benefited from some food program
In the first quarter of 2023, in the urban area, the female-headed households that had access to food programs reached 27.2%, a higher figure in 1.4 percentage points compared with the male-headed households (25.7%). While, in rural area, the percentage of male-headed households that had access to food programs (46.3%) in greater in 9.4 percentage points compared to the female-headed households (36.9%).
Female-headed households receive school breakfast in greater proportion than those male-headed households
In the quarter under analysis, 61.5% of female-headed households and that have among its members someone enrolled in early childhood or elementary education benefited from the school breakfast program; a higher figure in 4.6 percentage points, compared to the male-headed households (56.9%).
Greater proportion of men than women uses the Internet
The ENAHO results showed that the 76.8% of men aged 6 year old and older uses the Internet in mayor great proportion than women (72.8%). Compared with the same period of the year 2022 increased in 2.1 percentage points, in each case.
More women and men access the Internet from a cellphone
In the period under analysis, 91.1% of women and 91.5% of men accessed the Internet through a cellphone (with data plan and without data plan), 16.8% and 18.4% of women, men accessed the Internet through a laptop, and 13.1% of women and 16.4% of men accessed the Internet through a computer. Compared with the same quarter of 2022, the access to the Internet through cellphone of women and men increased in 1.4 and 1.8 percentage points, respectively.
Greater proportion of men than women have savings account
According to the ENAHO results of the first quarter of this year, 59.0% of men and 55.9% of women, aged 18 years old and older have savings or checking accounts. Compared with the same period of the last year, increased in 4.2 percentage points in women and in 3.2 percentage points in men.
According to education level reached, women (83.5%) and men (85.4%) with university higher education have a savings or checking accounts in a greater proportion compared to those with lower education level. In those with non-university higher education 69.6% of women and 79.3% of men have a saving accounts, observing a difference of 9.7 percentage points favorable to men; and those that reached till the high-school education level, registered the same percentage, both in women as well as in men 43.4%.
