Sector services rendered to companies increased 1.49% in February of 2023

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that in February of this year sector Services Rendered to Companies increased by 1.49% compared to the same month of the last year. This is based in the progress of its components: professional, scientific and technical activities; advertising and market research; travel agencies and tour operators, administrative service activities and of support to companies. Likewise, according to the Monthly Survey of Services Rendered to Companies, during the first two months of the year 2023, this sector grew by 1.09%.

Professional, scientific and technical activities increased by 1.50%, explained by the architectural and engineering activities, due to the development of engineering projects, building, houses and condominiums design, technical studies, counselling and mining projects maintenance, monitoring works won by tenders and approval of assessment in Lima and provinces. Likewise, it increased the essays and technical essays linked to the physical, chemical and environmental type of analysis; as well as activities of management that showed an increase due to the demand of consultancies, advisory services, guidance and operative assistance to companies.

On the other hand, legal activities decreased before the lower progress of court proceedings, lower attendance of public to notaries, closure of cases and lower recovery of judicial debt collection; accounting activities decreased as a result of the reduction of the number of contracts and service orders.

The INEI informed that the advertising and market research increased by 4.46% driven by the advertising area before the greater investment in advertising projects due to new campaign launching through traditional mass media, marketing in digital format, outdoor advertising announcement, BTL services (mail, calls, points of sale, social networks) and incentive programs to the sales and admission of new members to the market.

Nevertheless, the market research and conducting surveys of public opinion were affected due to lower projects of market studies (analysis of consumer profile, forecasts and trends), lower consultancies, virtual surveys and polls and cancelling of social, economic and politic studies.

Travel agencies and tour operators activity increased by 10.83% due to travel agencies with the national and international tickets sale, special deals and promotions of touristic packages, cruises tickets, services of touristic intermediation between agencies, operators and airlines and travel reservations. The other hand, tour operators activity decreased by the contraction of the domestic and receptive tourism (foreigners) before the reduced group of travelers coming from abroad and domestic travelers, due to social and politic problems of the country, that caused delay and cancellation of travel.

In February of this year, administrative and support services activities increased by 0.39%, a result that was directly linked to the performance of services activities to buildings and gardening activities, general cleaning of buildings, complete cleaning, pest control and environmental sanitation.

Likewise, the rent and operating leasing of machinery, equipment and tangible goods as a result of greater work fronts, ground motion and ongoing projects in mining and construction sector; as well as the rent and operational leasing of automotive vehicles associated with the demand of light and heavy-duty vehicles.

On the other hand, the activities related with the employment decreased due to lower provision of human resources and reduced activity of job placement agencies; telephone exchanges, collection agencies and credit information agencies decreased due to the reduction of client portfolio and lower collection portfolio assignment. In addition, private security activities showed a negative trend due to jobs reduction and termination of employment contract
