79.2% of the households in Lima Metropolitan area have connection to the Internet

According to the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO) of the fourth quarter of the year 2022, 79.2% of households in Lima Metropolitan area have connection to the Internet, higher in 4.1 percentage points compared to the same quarter of 2021. This was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), through the technical report Statistics of the Information and Communication Technologies in Households. A connection 
 
At national level, 58.4% of the households of the country have access to the Internet; an increase of 3.1 percentage points is observed, compared to the same quarter of 2021.
 
93.8% of the young population aged 19 to 24 years old has access to the Internet
The population of the country that makes the greatest use of the Internet is the young population aged 19 to 24 years old with 93.8%, followed by the group aged 12 to 18 years old with 87.0% and the group aged 25 to 40 years old with 86.9%. In lower proportion, the population aged 6 to 11 years old uses the Internet (58.3%) and the population aged 60 years old and over (37.6%).
 
89.2% of the population nationwide that use the Internet accessed through cellphone 
89.2% of the Internet users accessed to this service through cellphone, increasing in 2.1 percentage points compared with the same quarter of 2021. 46.8% connected through a cellphone without data plan, 42.7% through a cell with data plan, 18.0% through a laptop, 14.6% through a computer, 2.9% with a tablet and 9.8% used other type of device such as Smart TV.
 
93.2% of the population aged 6 years old and older uses the Internet to communicate
According to activities that the population of the country aged 6 years old and older that uses the Internet performs, 93.2% access to communicate, 87.5% to perform activities of training (video games and to get movies or music) and the 81.6% to get information.
 
84% of the households have just cellphone
During the fourth quarter of 2022, 84.0% of the households of the country have only a cellphone, increasing in 3.8 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the last year. Likewise, 10.3% had fixed telephones and cellphone; 0.6% have just fixed telephone while the 5.1% did not have neither of these services.
