Health care increases in women and men

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that according to the results of the National Survey of Households (ENAHO), in the fourth quarter of 2022, the medical-care seeking of women and men with some health problem was of 37.4% and 34.0%, respectively. These figures compared with the same quarter of the last year, increased in 5.5 percentage points in women and 8.7 percentage points in men.
In the technical report Statistics with Gender Perspective of the fourth quarter of 2022, it is stated that according to place or establishment of medical consultation, women attended in a greater proportion to the MINSA establishments (14.0%), and in the case of men the visit pharmacies (21.7%).
89 out of 100 women had access to health insurance
In the quarter under study, 89.0% of women of the country have a health insurance, a higher figure in 4.2 percentage points compared with men (84.8%). Compared with the same quarter of 2021, the percentage of women and men that have a health insurance increased in 3.3 and 3.9 percentage points, respectively.
By age groups, the greater access to a health insurance was reported in women aged 0 to 14 years old (92.9%) and in men in the same age group (93.1%), followed by women and men aged 60 years old and over, 90.8% and 88.4%, respectively.
63.7% of women and 58.3% of men have Comprehensive Health Insurance
By type of insurance, the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) presented the greater coverage of attention in the case of women (63.7%) and in men (58.3%). To the ESSALUD insurance accessed the 21.0% and the 22.2% of women and men, respectively.
By comparing these results with the same quarter of the last year there were reported increases to the SIS insurance in women and in men, in 6.0 percentage points, in each case.
34.9% of households with men as household head and 31.9%with women as household head accessed to food programs.
During the fourth quarter of 2022, at national level, 34.9% of male-headed households and 31.9% of the women-headed households had at least a beneficiary member of some feeding program. Therefore, it is registering in the case of women-headed households an increase of 1.4 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the year 2021. On the other hand, in the case of male-headed households decreased slightly in 0.2 percentage points.
More men than women accessed to the Internet
In the fourth quarter of 2022, 75.3% of the male population of 6 years old and older and 72.9% of the female population accessed to the Internet. According to age groups, men aged 30 to 49 years old and aged 50 years old and over (83.5% and 52.8%) used in a greater proportion the Internet, compared to women of the same age group (80.4% and 46.0%). While, in other age groups, women accessed to the Internet in greater proportion compared with men.
More men than women have a saving or bank account
According to the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO), in the fourth quarter of 2022, 54.7% of men and 52.8% of women aged 18 years old and older had a saving or bank account. Compared to the same quarter of 2021, men and women of legal age that have saving or bank account increased in 0.6 and 0.5 percentage points, respectively.
In the urban area, 60.5% of men and 55.3% of women had a saving or bank account, observing an increase compared to the same quarter of the last year of 0.5 percentage points and in 0.4 percentage points in women.
Greater proportion of women than men work in activities of Services and Commerce
According to economic activity in which they work in, 79.7% of women Work in Services (51.4%) and Commerce (28.3%) activities; in the case of men, 45.2% work in Services (27.4%) and Commerce (17.8%).
