Potable water production grow in 0.6% in Lima Metropolitan

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of January of the current year according to the information provided by the National Service of Potable Water and Sewerage Service of Lima (SEDAPAL); the potable water production of Lima Metropolitan reached 68 million 825 thousand cubic meters, quantity that represented a slight increase of 0.6% compared with the same month of 2022.
Rimac River flow reduced and Chillon River increases
In the technical report Environmental Statistics and according with the information provided by the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI), in the month of January of 2023, the Rimac River flow totalized 24.94 m3/s, lower level by 1.9% compared to the same month of 2022 and lower by 35.7% to its historic average.
While, the average flow of the Chillon River reached 4.70 m3/s, a higher figure by 41.6% compared to the first month of the last year; nevertheless, it decreased by 42.0% compared to its historic average.
Lima Metropolitan reached a high level of ultraviolet radiation
During the first month of the year and according to the SENAMHI information, the average rate of ultraviolet radiation for Lima Metropolitan reached a level 7, it means, a high risk for the health, which means an increase of 16.7% compared to the month of January of 2022.
Puno, Tacna and Arequipa reported the lowest temperatures
During the month of January of 2023 and according to the monitoring of 17 SENAMHI stations, the departments of Puno, Tacna and Arequipa registered the lowest temperatures. In the department of Puno, the lowest temperatures were observed in the Mazo Cruz (-9.8 °C), Pampahuta (-7.6 °C), Desaguadero (-7.0 °C), Chuquibambilla (-6.0 °C), Crucero Alto (-5.6 °C), Ananea (-5.2 °C), Macusani (-5.0 °C) and Santa Lucia (-3.8 °C) stations; Tacna, in Paucarani (-9.4 °C) and Bocatoma (-9.0 °C) stations and Arequipa, in the Pillones (-8.8 °C), Imata (-8.6 °C), Tisco (-7.0 °C), Las Salinas (-7.0 °C), Caylloma (-4.2 °C) and Porpera (-4.2 °C) stations. Also, in the department of Junín, reported a low temperature in the Laive station (-3.9 °C).
Emergencies at national level decreased in 71.2%
The INEI informed that during the month of January of 2023 and according to the information provided by the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), at national level there were reported 330 emergencies, a lower quantity by 71.2% compared to the same month of 2022. The emergencies left 819 affected people, 4 815 affected homes, 109 destroyed homes and 1,833 hectares of crops destroyed.
The greater number of emergencies were registered in the departments of Ayacucho (44), Apurimac (41), Cusco (29), Lima (27), Piura and Amazonas (21 in each one), Huánuco (18), Cajamarca (15), Ucayali (14), Ancash (12), Junín and Pasco (11 in each one), Loreto (10), Huancavelica and Ica (9 in each one), Arequipa, Tumbes and Lambayeque (7 in each one), Moquegua (5), Constitutional Province of Callao (4), San Martín (3), La Libertad and Tacna (2 in each one), Madre de Dios (1).
The emergencies were caused mainly by urban fires (93), heavy rainfalls (68), strong winds (58), temporal (winds and rains) (23), hailstorms (22), landslides (11), flood by river over flood (10), frosts (8), electric storms (7), collapsing house (6), snowfalls (4), tidal wave, huaycos (mud floods), flood by channels over flood and collapse by antiquity (3 in each case), bank erosion, forest fires and hills collapse (2 in each case), creeping and earthquakes (1 in each case).
