Sector services rendered to companies increased 1.12% in December 2022

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that in December of 2022, the sector Services Rendered to Companies grew 1.12%, compared to the same month of the year 2021, determined by the positive evolution of advertising and market research, professional, scientific and technical activities and travel agencies and tour operators. Nevertheless, administrative service and support to companies activities decreased. It also informed that during the period January-December 2022, this sector accumulated an increase of 2.11%.

During the last month of the last year, advertising and market research grew in 8.59% cause of advertising area due to the Christmas campaign-launching, end of the year and of summer season events, new members’ entrance and investment in brand positioning projects, advertising in social media and web sites, promotion services and incentive and achievement programs. On the other hand, market research and conduction of public opinion surveys decreased as a result of the lower demand of marketing studies, lower demand of regional and local studies in social and economic subjects.

The INEI informed that professional, scientific and technical activities showed an increase 0.79%, due to the architecture and engineering activities and technical advice related activities, driven by the start of new construction projects, engineering studies and valorization due to works progress, supervision and consulting services.

Likewise, there were favored the activities of business management consultancy over the base of consultation, business consultancy and contracts of business projects; accounting activities due to the contracting of audit services and consultancies in accounting, tax and financial areas. Meanwhile, legal activities decreased before the lower demand of notary services, closure of legal cases and suspension of contracts.

Travel agencies and tour operators registered an increase by 10.95% due to the contribution of travel agencies due to the increasing demand of air tickets and tourist packages on the occasion of holiday season, Christmas and end of the year parties, long holidays, closed door sales, discounts and award miles redemption for domestic and international trip.

In the same way, tour operators were favored by developing activity related to the arrival to the country of foreign tourist groups, but in limited number due to airports closure, social conflicts and cancellation of accommodation bookings and tours in south regions such as Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cusco, Junín, Madre de Dios and Puno.

During December of the last year, the administrative and support services activities decreased by 1.03%, due to collection agencies and credit information agencies with lower allocation of overdue portfolio due to telephone central activities explained by the lower demand of call center services due to the decrease of customer portfolio. The rent and operational leasing of machines, equipment and tangible goods decreased by the lower civil construction, road and mining infrastructure projects.

Likewise, it decreased the activities related with the employment as a result of the lower supply of human resources to companies.
