More than 77 thousand 500 marriages were registered at national level

While commemorating this 14th February, Saint Valentine’s Day, a date which is celebrated love and friendship, The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that according to the information provided by the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (RENIEC), there were registered 77 thousand 537 marriages at national level. From that total, 32.9% were registered in Metropolitan Lima (25 541).
The departments with higher number of marriages registered were La Libertad (4 609), Piura (4 475), Arequipa (4 163), Lambayeque (3 822), Junín (3 127), Constitutional Province of Callao (3 059), Cusco (2 706), Cajamarca (2 655) and Lima Region (2 643). Meanwhile, the lowest number of marriages were registered in Madre de Dios (427), Moquegua (445), Tumbes (587), Huancavelica (693), Tacna (695), Amazonas (761), Pasco (779) and Apurímac (836).
In the districts of Metropolitan Lima, it outstands Santiago de Surco with the greater number of marriages registered with 1 736; followed by Ate (1 519), San Juan de Lurigancho (1 500), Comas (1 375), Cercado de Lima (1 275), San Juan de Miraflores (1 257), Miraflores (1 167), San Martín de Porres (1 135), Los Olivos (1 086), and Villa El Salvador (1 010), among the main ones.
Women get married younger than men
According to the age of the intending spouses, the 40.0% of women that marriage are under 30 years old, while their men peers of this group of age represent the 28.3%. Men get married at an older age; therefore 48.7% of them are 35 years old and older.
In December were celebrated a greater quantity of marriages
According to the month of the marriages celebration, 9 596 marriages were registered in line during the month of December and represented the 13.3%, followed by the month of September with 11.4%, November 10.6% and October 10.3%; while February (3 394) was the month with the lowest number of marriages celebrated.
More than 14 thousand 700 divorces were registered in the year 2021
Regarding the divorces, according to the information provided by the RENIEC, in the year 2021 were registered 14 708 divorces at national level, from which the 63.1% were reported in Metropolitan Lima (9 275). Followed by the Constitutional Province of Callao that reached the 7.5% (1 110), La Libertad 4.4% (651), Lambayeque with 2.9% (421), Arequipa 2.8% (418), Piura 2.3% (339) and Ancash with the 2.1% (311 divorces), among those with the greater proportion.
According to districts at the level of Metropolitan Lima, 611 divorces were registered in Santiago de Surco, San Martin de Porres 583, Cercado de Lima 508, Los Olivos 506, San Juan de Lurigancho 480 and Comas 467, among those that reported the greater number of divorces.
78 out of 100 women in childbearing age currently live-in partners use some contraceptive method
The Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) as of the year 2021, it is registered that the 78.1% of women in childbearing age that have a couple use some family planning method. By living place, it can be seen that in urban area (78.0%) and rural (78.3%) this proportion is similar.
Percentage of live-in partners exceeds the married ones
Regarding the civil state or marital status of the Peruvian population, the results of the National Survey of Households (ENAHO) of 2021, reported that the 24.2% of the population aged 12 years old and over are live-in partners and 23.5% are married. Meanwhile, the single ones represented the 36.2%, separated 9.8%, widows 5.5% and divorced 0.7%.
72 out of 100 foreigners that live in our country are single
As of August 31 of the year 2021 and according to the information provided by the National Superintendence of Migrations, the 72.1% of foreigners aged 14 years old and older living in our country are single, 25.4% are married and 1.9% are divorced

57.7% of the Venezuelan population that lives in our country have a couple
The results of the 2nd Survey addressed to Venezuelan Population (II ENPOVE) 2022 revealed that the 57.7% of the Venezuelan population living in our country have a couple. From them the 44.1% are live-in partners and the 13.6% are married. While, the 33.3% is single, 6.7% is separated or ex live-in partner, 1.2% widow and 1.1% divorced
