Presence Of Minerals Is Reduced In The Rimac River

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of November 2022 and according to the information of the National Service of Potable Water and Sewerage Service of Lima (SEDAPAL), the quantity of minerals in the Rimac River presented a significant decrease. Therefore, the average presence of aluminum reached 0.18mg/L lower result in 75.0% compared to the same month of 2021. Likewise, the average quantity of iron (0.27 mg/L) and lead (0.006 mg/L) reduced in 70.7% and 53.8%, respectively; meanwhile, it was not found presence of cadmium, which represented a reduction of 100.0% of this mineral. 
 
It decreases maximum presence of organic matter in the Rimac River
According to the information provided by SEDAPAL, in November of 2022, the maximum quantity of organic matter in the Rimac River reached 2.84 mg/l a lower result in 20.9% compared with the same month of 2021. On the other hand, the average presence (2.01 mg/L) registered a slight increase of 1.0% compared to the month of November of 2021.
 
In the technical report Environmental Statistics is stated that the organic matter expressed as Total Organic Carbon (TOC) is a product of the organic waste that once were alive, such as plants, animals and products of waste in the natural environment. Bacteria, protozoan and different microorganisms decompose the organic matter.
 
Production of potable water in Metropolitan Lima increased 1.1%
During the month of December of 2022 and according to SEDAPAL, the production of potable water in Metropolitan Lima reached 67 558 000 m3/s, a figure that represented a growth of 1.1% compared to the same month of 2021.
 
Flow of the Rimac and Chillon Rivers is reduced
According to the information of the National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology (SENAMHI) during the month of December of 2022, the average flow of the Rimac River reached to 21.25 m3/s, lower level in 19.2% and 23.8% compared with the same month of 2021 and its historic average, respectively.
 
Likewise, the average flow of the Chillon River reached 1.37 m3/s, a result that means a reduction of 55.8% and 74.2% compared to the month of December of 2021 and its historic average, respectively.
 
Flow of the rivers of the Pacific slope decreases 
In December of 2022 and according to the data provided by the SENAMHI, the flow of the main rivers of the north zone of the Pacific Slope reached 5.30 m3/s, a lower amount in 90.0% and 83.7% compared with the same month of 2021 and to its historic average, respectively. Likewise, the rivers flow of the center zone slope (11.74 m3/s) decreased in 24.0% and 29.3% compared to the month of December of 2021 and to its historic average. Finally, the rivers of the South Pacific slope (18.89 m3/s) reported a decrease of 34.3% and 43.8% compared to the month of December of 2021 and to its historic average, respectively.
 
Puno, Arequipa and Tacna registered the lowest temperatures
During the last month of 2022 and according to the monitoring of the 17 SENAMHI stations, the departments of Puno, Arequipa and Tacna registered the greatest intensity of frosts. In Puno, in the stations of Mazo Cruz (15.6 °C), Crucero Alto (-13.0 °C), Cojata (-8.8 °C), Desaguadero (-8.4 °C), Macusani (-7.0 °C) and Cabanillas (-2.8 °C); in Arequipa, the stations of Imata (-15.8 °C), Pillones (-13.6 °C), Salinas (-13.2 °C) and Caylloma (-9.8 °C); and in Tacna, in the station of Chuapalca (-14.8 °C).
 
Also, there were reported low temperatures in the stations: In Junín, La Oroya (-4.5 °C); in Huancavelica, Lircay (-3.8 °C) and in Cusco, in the station of Sicuani (-3.6 °C). No frosts were registered in the stations of Anta Ancachuro, Candarave and Santa Ana. 
 
Emergencies at national level reduced in 69.8%
Finally, the INEI informed that during the month of December of 2022 and according to the information provided by the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI), at national level, there were registered 247 emergencies, a lower result in 69.8% compared with the same month of 2021. The emergencies left 2 116 affected people, 798 affected homes, 119 destroyed homes and 4 608 hectares of crops destroyed.
 
The greater number of emergencies were registered in the departments of Apurímac (25), Lima (21), Ayacucho (19), Piura (17), Cusco and San Martín (16 in each one), Ucayali (15), Pasco (13), Madre de Dios and Amazonas (11 in each one), Junín (10), Ancash, Huánuco, Tumbes and Huancavelica (9 in each one), Moquegua (8), Cajamarca (6), Lambayeque (5), La Libertad and Ica (4 in each one), Loreto, Puno and Tacna     (3 in each one), Constitutional Province of Callao (1) and Arequipa did not registered emergencies.
 
The emergencies were mainly caused by urban fires (77), strong winds (66), temporal (winds and rains) (27), Heavy rains (17), frosts (15), forest fires (11), hailstorms (10), slide (5), lack of water (4), flood by river over flood and hills collapse (3 in each one), decrease of temperatures and collapse by antiquity (2 in each one), snowfalls, earthquakes, floods, electric storms and destruction of housings (1 in each one).
