Vehicle traffic through tollbooths at national level increased 8.7%

The National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed that during the month of October of 2022, the National Rate of Vehicle Traffic Flow the one that estimates the movement of light and heavy vehicles through the tollbooths increased in 8.7%, compared to the same month of 2021, due to the high transit of light (15.3%) and heavy (1.4%) units. During the last twelve months (November 2021-October 2022), it increased in 5.2%.
Circulation of light duty vehicles grew 15.3%
During the month under analysis, the movement of light duty units through tollbooths of the country increased in 15.3% compared with October of the last year. This behavior was explained by the return of educational and labor activities onsite way. As well as the celebrations of Lord of Miracles Festivity at national level. Also, influenced the long holidays due to the celebration of the Battle of Angamos and the All Saints, dates that families took the opportunity to travel, favoring the Commerce, Accommodation and Restaurants sectors, encouraged by the tourism.
Tollbooths with greater vehicle traffic were to the north, (Loma Larga Baja 9.1%); in the south, Ica (Marcona 24.0%) and Moquegua (Ilo 5.1%); and in the center, in Lima (Pasamayo Serpentine 34.5%).
Movement of heavy-duty units increased 1.4%
During the month of October of 2022, traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles through tollbooths of the country increased in 1.4%, compared to the same month of 2021. This result is supported in the growing demand of cargo transportation service in the Commerce, Construction, and Agricultural and Mining sectors.
Tollbooths with greater traffic flow were to the north, Piura (Loma Larga Baja 8.7%, Piura Sullana 6.7% and Paita 6.1%), Ancash (Huarmey 3.3%), Cajamarca (Pomahuaca-Pucará 2.4%), La Libertad (Chicama 2.0% and Virú 0.7%) and Lambayeque (Diversion Olmos 2.0%).
In the south, Ica (Marcona 40.7% and Jahuay Chincha 6.2%), Moquegua (Ilo 34.1% and Pampa Cuellar 2.6%), Apurímac (Pampamarca 11.3% and Pichirhua 6.4%), Puno (Caracoto 11.0%) and Ayacucho (Pampa Galera 6.3%); and in the center Lima (Pasamayo Variant 6.6%, Pasamayo Serpentine 3.0%, El Paraíso 3.0% and Fortaleza 2.8%).
Traffic flow of heavy-duty vehicles of 3 to 7 axle increased 1.3%
During the month of October of 2022, the movement of heavy-duty vehicles of 3 to 7 axle increased in 1.3%, compared to the same month of the last year. This result is explained due to the greater movement of units such as trailers, semi-trailers and heavy duty cargo of trucks 3 axle (2.0%), 5 axle (4.0%), 6 axle (0.6%) and 7 axle (5.1%); Meanwhile that it decreased the traffic flow of vehicles of 4 axle (-0.02%).
