Restaurant activity increased 8.01% in October of this year

In October of 2022, restaurants activity grew in 8.01% compared to the same month of the year 2021, due to the positive evolution of three of its four components; this was informed by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).
In 9.24% increased the group of restaurants
The group of restaurants reported a variation of 9.24% due to the good performance of the activities in Chifas (Chinese food), restaurants, Pollerias (Grilled chicken restaurants), fast foods, burgers restaurants, coffee restaurants, meat, grills, and Japanese food. This variation was favored mainly by the high customer frequency before the start of the long holiday, the presentation of the new menu and variety in household recipes, opening of local branches and strategic alliances with the financial sector.
In addition, it contributed with this result the performance of activities due to the Day of Cacao and Peruvian Chocolate, National Day of Guinea Pig, Day of the Anticucho (Beef heart) and the OAS Summit. Likewise, there were developed gastronomic fairs such as “Sabores del Norte”, "IX Festival del Chancho al Palo" and “Festival del Turrón y dulces”. Additionally, it outstands the business of pizzerias, Italian food, Creole food, International food, touristic restaurants and confectionaries
Activity of service of beverages increased in 14.63%
During the month under study, the activity of service of beverages was higher in 14.63% determined by the increase of the business of cafeterias, Juice shops, bar restaurants and discos, driven by the amplification of establishments, shows and live music, promotion in shots and advertising strategies in social network. This result was favored by the activities organized on the Day of Creole Music and Halloween.
In 123.90% increased the Catering service
The INEI informed that Catering grew in 123.90% due to the greater demand of preparation and distribution of foods for events, in attention of buffets and coffee break for meetings, conferences, speeches, business breakfasts and all kind of events, based on selected sweet, salty snacks and cold and hot drinks.
Other activities of food services decreased in 4.05%
During the month under analysis, other activities of food services decreased in 4.05% due to the lower contracts with food concessionary companies from manufacturing, mining, construction and finance sectors also with universities, hospitals and clinics. Nevertheless, it increased the supply of foods for contractors (food service to transportation companies) before the greater flow of travels of the air and inland transportation companies, encouraged by the long holiday registered in the month under analysis.
