44.1% of the country's population with some health problem sought care

In the third quarter of this year, 44.1% of the country's population with some health problem sought care to treat their ailment, that is, 8.8 percentage points more than in the same quarter of the previous year (35.3 %); This was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI), through the technical report Living Conditions in Peru, prepared with the results of the National Household Survey (ENAHO).
By area of residence, the highest percentage growth was reported in the urban area, going from 35.9% to 44.9%; than in rural areas, going from 33.1% to 40.8%.
20.0% of the country's population sought care at a pharmacy or apothecary to address a health problem
According to place or establishment of consultation, 20.0% of the country's population sought care at a pharmacy or apothecary and 12.8% went to establishments of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), higher figures in 2.0 and 5.0 percentage points, respectively; when comparing it with the third quarter of 2021. Also, 5.7% sought care in a private clinic and 4.5% went to Social Security Health (EsSalud) establishments.
In the urban area, the place or establishment with the highest number of consultations was the pharmacy or apothecary (21.4%), followed by MINSA establishments (10.6%); registering increases of 2.2 and 4.7 percentage points respectively, compared to the third quarter of 2021. In rural areas, 21.7% of the population sought care in MINSA establishments and 14.6% in pharmacies or pharmacy, that is, 6.2 and 1.7 percentage points more than in the same quarter of the previous year.
86.0% of the country's population reported having some type of health insurance
During the analysis quarter, 86.0% of the country's population reported having some type of health insurance, a figure that increased by 4.9 percentage points, compared to the same quarter of 2021 (81.1%). .
According to area of residence, the largest proportion of the population with some health insurance resides in rural areas (91.9%), compared to urban areas (84.5%), showing increases of 2.7 and 5 .4 percentage points, respectively; when compared to the same quarter of last year.
40.6% of the population has some chronic health problem
During the third quarter of this year, 40.6% of the country's population reported suffering from a permanent health problem, which meant an increase of 3.0 percentage points, when compared to the same quarter of the previous year. In addition to the chronic health problem they suffer, 23.9% suffered other health problems in the last four weeks; while 16.8% suffered only from disease or chronic malaise.
At the residence area level, in the urban area the population that suffered from some chronic health problem reached 42.4% and in the rural area 33.8%. When compared with the same quarter of 2021, the population with a chronic health problem increased in urban and rural areas by 3.2 and 2.5 percentage points, for each case.
96.6% of the population has access to electricity through the public network
During the third quarter of this year, 96.6% of the population has access to electricity through the public network. By area of residence, in the urban area said coverage was 99.0% and in the rural area it was 87.1%. It should be noted that when comparing this percentage with the same quarter of 2021, no significant variations are observed at the national level or in the urban area.
53.9% of the population aged 18 and over that has an account in the financial system
According to the results obtained in the third quarter of this year, 53.9% of the population aged 18 and over have some account in the financial system. In the employed population aged 18 and over, 56.5% have an account in the financial system. In the urban area, this percentage reached 62.3%.
When compared with the same quarter of 2021, the employed population aged 18 and over that has an account in the financial system showed increases of 1.2 and 0.9 percentage points at the national level and in the urban area, respectively.
18.8% of households in the country have a bicycle
According to the results obtained in the study quarter, 18.8% of households have a bicycle, 14.9% have a car/van, 12.4% a motorcycle, and 7.9% have a motorcycle taxi. It should be noted that, at the national level, highly significant increases of 1.5 and 1.2 percentage points were observed in motorcycle and motorcycle taxi ownership, respectively.
